Scary as hell. This manga is a mixture of humanity's hubris, the inquiry of afterlife, and the reflection of the main character to its readers. It portrays the uncertainties of life depending on how the reader put himself in the story. Truly a masterpiece!

Bruh I was expecting something really scary, it wasn’t it for me

I actually already read most of Junji Itou's work including this one a long time ago, but I decided to revisit it tonight. I remember disliking this adaptation. That opinion hasn't changed, unfortunately. The novel has always been one of my personal favorite classics and it's difficult to capture properly in many adaptations. I don't blame Itou.

at first it was just awful but after reading osamu dazai biography it's became really depressing, like a suicide notes, his thoughts before he ended his life
