Different from what I usually read. I'm glad it wasn't a total waste of time

One of my favorite series of all time. Each chapter is standalone and makes you think about whether the pet owners deserved their fate. Art is amazing. Count D and Leon have the best interactions, and Chris is adorable and precious.

Really good, and whimsical. The characters are well thought out and have believable personalities. I wish more was made, but oh well....count D is such a mysterious person, and the pet shop is not necessarily a horror shop, but terrible things can happen because people are sometimes terrible. For me, this series is very into the karma befits the person who does "good" and "bad" actions meta. Children are also considered innocent, unless driven to do "bad" via their parenting. Its a pretty good series.

Ahhhh I feel so sad that it's over. I started reading this in middle school (almost 20 years ago ;A; ), but I only read the first volume and then didn't continue because I actually have a terribly low threshold for horror. In fact I'm surprised I even kept going this time. But it was so worth it, and it's such an amazing story, I can't even put into words. It is so complex. The author depicts different dimensions of the human existence - from the brightest and warmest, to the deepest and most vulgar expressions of humanity. She's also incredibly creative. What I loved the most is how much research she poured into every mythical creature that was introduced. There's one story that involves a Peruvian terrorist group, and as someone with Peruvian heritage, I even learned something about my own background that I had no idea, and it was a truly beautiful read. Overall, this has to be one of my top five favorite manga of all time. <3
