I feel like some people are really missing the point here, it's not that "hari" lived and "ruri" died, both girls went by both names. It didn't matter because they used the names interchangeably. The names were merely an appearance they kept outwardly. But yes the one who got confessed to did die.
Hm. That's an intriguing little story, definitely a sad concept, though. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a part of yourself like that. Identical twins literally start out as the same person in the womb. Well, person is a stretch, but they're just one egg. I wonder what that's like, especially for people who don't get along with their twin.
Anyway, this is a sad little story, and although the girl he kissed that day is the one who died, it's still unclear who is who. She might be the original, but it doesn't really matter at that point. I can see why people might not like this one. I thought it was interesting, at any rate.
