Wow... I'm slightly saddened at Souma's loss to Akira Hayama though... But this manga has the great potential every amazing story has - ups and downs. When there is a down the author usually wants to calm you down to make the comeback chapter seem even more exciting...
When I first read this manga I was: This is soooo cool!
When they updated new chapters I was: HAWT! Now I get to see what's next *hyperventilating*
When they announced that the manga will release into an anime I was: OMFG!!!!!! OOOOOOO GOD!!! THE AUTHORS MUST BE IN LOVE WITH ME!! THEY'RE MAKING MY WILDEST DREAM COME TRUE! *stroke - dies* XD

Yes! Can't wait until the anime comes out! I have been in love with this manga ever since it came out!

I want more chapters

This is literally worth a re-read. The only thing I will correct on this whole manga is the way they handle the knife. The way they handle a knife is literally wrong. The proper way of handling a knife is that your three fingers which is middle finger, ring finger, and pinky finger should be placed on the handle of a knife to have a proper grip. Your index finger should be placed against the blade near the handle and your thumb finger should be on the opposite side of the index finger. Thus, having that way to handle a knife will give you more control and a nice grip when cutting foods. That is the only thing I will be correcting in the manga since I am also a culinary student that is why I got hooked in this manga and the anime.

Well souma is not yet to be found...,please let souma come back i mean in grand entrance comeback and make erina melt ill be satisfied if souma will come back at the stage saying to them all "Yo!! Tadaima!" with a smug faceafter then ill be satisfied

I wish there's a continuation of this. Also, can Erina and Soma be honest with their feelings already and get married? I want to see it so soooo much!

WARNING. This rating is only for up till the end of the arc where all the seniors battle against soma and gang, or even earlier till the end of the autumn competition arc. Past that everything goes downhill. I kid you not. But before that this was the one manga which made me like shounen again and I even dropped one piece for this... I am terribly upset over what happened to this. It's like what happened to air gear and ughhhhh frigging bleach. Just stop while you are ahead so your rating and satisfaction level will remain 5*. Past it you will start to regret it, but the nostalgia still sadly remains. I sometimes reread only the front. Sighs. I'm marking this as read though I will likely never finish this.

Also, it's totally weebish but I actually got into cooking because of this lmao. No kidding. I legit learned cooking from my mum after all her years of nagging and got decent at it. Can't reach Soma's level of course.

Overall it's great but after the arc with Nakiri's dad it starts to fall off. Rlly felt like they should have ended it there tbh

I read to chapter 47 before losing interest. The manga isn't bad, by any means, it just didn't catch my attention. I don't feel connected to any of the characters, either.

151/315.3 - food porn basically

The manga ended with 36 volumes last year. The fifth plate (5th season) of the anime took a different path than the manga. That's why it probably dragged on longer than it was supposed to.

The original creators of the manga we're thinking about ending it with Soma becoming the 1st seat and Erina as the Dean. Though they thought that It would be incomplete if we didn't see how everyone else turned out in their adult life. Especially for Soma. And they needed to still set out the back story of Saiba and his connections with other people included in the story already.

They wanted to have an ending with every problem, loop hole, and even backstory come to a close. They wanted everything to end reasonably, but wanted some mystery as well.

Also in the final epilogue of Le Dessert, Tsukuda wanted Soma and Erina to get married. But he didn't explain how. He also wanted the futures of Soma's friends to be left to our imagination.

In the 1st to 4th seasons, I think that they are absolutely amazing. I loved it! The fifth season though was mostly about Erina and Soma's love story. I don't hate the ship, nor do I dislike the other ships in the story don't get me wrong. It's just, I came for the uniqueness of it. The characters, the plot, the thrill of each shokugeki, the techniques and well thought of detailed foods that were presented, the art and style, the theme! I loved it.

But I just wish sometimes that not all amazing anime's like this HAVE to have a love story. Like it's cute yeah, but please, I want to see them grow as people and as chefs, not see their love story. I want to see how they've improved their skills and see how far they've gotten.

Shokugeki no Soma / Food Wars will and forever be in my top 3 anime's of all time. I've loved it since the manga first released and ever since it has aired on crunchyroll. It's a work of art!

If I could give more stars I would give...

I literally don't ship the principal couple is like, ok. I prefer the past of each character, I find it more interesting after all. The last part was just too rush like the could take advantage of the night cookers and the "ilegal cooking" a lot but they decided to become something superficial and it's quite disappointing and later how force was to make the protagonist that he is in love, it felt so empty and awkward. Later the way it ends is just weak, they actually could make a better ending using all the chapters used in the 3r arc, just for a more organic ending but they choose a weird, awkward situation for impulse the romance between the principal couple, lowkey I think is by the fans.I preferred a more forever rival. And the fact that was possible incest lol that was only thing that catch by suprise in the last arc. Aaaah and the most fascinating thing for me is to see more about their world like farming. Next is that this is started so good even overwhelming to able to ending. The fact that there is a lot, make all this chapters aren't enough and that is why it feels so empty cos their objective where ending on one way or another and is quite a waste but with all this years of work is quiet understandable, surely the author and the mangaka was getting more projects that they want to start and put effort in it.

I wish the author showed us Some and erina together or having a child :/ but seeing soma and others character grown up makes my heart uwu.
