One of the best written stories ever. It's always amazing to be able to read a whole life's story and on top of that, one about the arts. I was drawn in from the start to the very end, and even cried a bit when i finished it.

that ending is probably going to bother me for the rest of my life can someone bribe sensei into answering whether yakumo really is shin's father id rather it be confirmed that he is so i can move on than it staying as a mystery unanswered forever UUUUGH I HATE IT WHEN AUTHORS DO THIS CAN U NOT JUST LET ME BE AT PEACE

An incredibly beautiful story. The relationship between sueroku and yakumo is so damn wholesome. This story taught me to never chase a hoe. The writing an art is so beautiful and the story is mind blowing. This honestly has to be one of my favorite mangas ever.

I will never understand how konatsu can get pregnant by the yakuza bos child but if it's yakumo's child i can understand it better because japan is rampant about love story with big age gap like that usagi drop one
And its like tying a loose knot or something because shinnosuke appear on yakumo's rakugo in the afterlife and konatsu appear on sukeroku's (?) So they wish for their child to witness their performance and it all makes sense now
No wonder why shinnosuke tied yakumo to the world if its his own child. I understand that he must be fond of konatsu but i dont think it will be enough to make him love shinnosuke to that intensity but if shinnosuke is his own child it all makes sense
This manga is about rakugo artist and their complicated relationship with one another
The mangaka usually produce a yaoi manga so it's the only work available online which only serve rivalry between the two men
I enjoy it, the rakugo itself can came aoff a boring because it's full of text and i dont think the essence can completely translated but the complicated background makes it sooo interesting

I just want to say, no, kiku is not in love with haruhatsu. I believe he is genuinely in love with miyokichi. Haru is his eternal rival and friend and it doesnt have to be translate into romantic feeling. There are always brotherly feel about them. Regarding about shinnosuke's paternity, yes I believe kiku is the father. It explains a lot about why konatsu won't let him die before shinnosuke watch his rakugo performance, why shinnosuke presence makes him wants to live longer, why shinnosuke appear on his rakugo performance in the afterlife, why shinnosuke favorite is kiku's rakugo (remember, konatsu's favorite is her own father's rakugo, and shinnosuke's sibling's favorite is also her own father's rakugo), why his birth is all konatsu plan all along. I believe kiku doesn't have romantic feeling about konatsu, (but their strong feeling toward each other, be it love hate or disgust is strong enough reason so they will have sex together), but he can't not love his own son. I think that's one of the wrapped idea of the mangaka. The mangaka have always been a yaoi mangaka, and when I believe this one doesn't have a romantic relationship between two guy, I feel like the author purposely make shinnosuke look like the combination of the two main character who, in normal yaoi manga, will never have descendant together. I think the last chapter is a hint that yes thats the truth bcz tbh it answers a lot of loose knot in the story. Tbh i won't entertain such an idea if not for the last chapter, so what's the reason for hinting it if it's not the truth. I feel like for konatsu to want to bear the child, she will have a great reason and great feeling toward the child sire. And i dont think she will bear the child of the yakuza boss because i don't think they have strong foundation between each other and i don't think strong minded woman like konatsu will give his body to someone she doesn't love.
You have to understand that in japan somehow the idea of forbidden love and taboo love is romantized so much. The fact that they are not blood relative is enough for them to see nothing wrong with relationship between kiku and konatsu. Just look at usagi drop.

U know at first i kinda hate konatsu because she is seems so ungrateful, but now i love her, She is just tsundere, She is love bon dearly but she cant said that.. and Tbh i ship Bon and Shin but i think i hope they are 3 Bon, Shin, Miyokichi can be happy :)) but still this is makes me cry, I love this.. this id masterpiece
