FUCK THAT DOG SALIOU MY MAN PAULO SHOULD'VE GOTTEN HIS BITCH.

This story annoyed me so bad near the middle of it because up until then, it had treated Gabriel, Paulo, and Saliou as a love triangle, and then there was a very sudden shift and the story completely dropped that, instead making it be a story of Gabriel & Saliou against Paulo. While the vampire was always the antagonist, to a certain point he was also portrayed as a possible love interest / rival to Saliou. It was of a priest being put between a werewolf and a vampire . . . Until it wasn't. And, funnily enough considering I hate love triangles, I liked it so much more before that shift happened.

I think a big part of what makes me prefer the portion of the story that I theoretically should have probably hated considering my taste and aversion to it in the past, is the fact that I like Paulo so much more than I like Saliou. A vampire is better than a werewolf. A werewolf can't beat out the inherent sensuality and eroticism present within vampires and their dynamics with humans, especially with a priest. So immediately there is a certain pull and attraction Paulo has that Saliou completely lacks for me as a reader. The typical corruption that comes with a vampiric relationship is so intensely engaging to read, compared to a werewolf which . . . I guess just has the dogboy charms—which Saliou also completely lacks.

Beyond how I prefer vampires over werewolves, I also just think that Paulo had more chemistry with Gabriel than Saliou did. He had this certain intensity and obsession about him that made me believe he truly, carnally wanted Gabriel, especially during the ending, meanwhile honestly Saliou seemed to lack any interest at all generally throughout the whole thing. Sure Saliou had the backstory to prop him up as being this big wrecking ball of a figure within Gabriel's life, as being "the one," but his actual behavior and attitude didn't meet that.

I also feel like something this story suffers with is bloat. There's too many characters. All I care about is the three main men, and then to a lesser degree Teko and his sister, who are vampire hunters. And even then, Teko completely falls to the wayside and becomes a complete non-character by the end of the story, while his sister takes the spotlight. There's other characters too but I can't remember their names nor generally care enough about them to talk about their role. They're filler. Stuffing. Bloat.

Despite the complaints, there is a bit I liked about this story; the plot, for one. While it did take a bit to find its footing, once it did, it ran. After a certain point where it got good I planned on stopping this story—to read the rest tomorrow—multiple times throughout but each time I just continued reading until eventually I finished it all. While I would have liked him more as a love rival, Paulo's role as the antagonist was pretty great. He was very dramatic, quite cold and callous, and he had that sexuality that oozes from all best vampire depictions. He was constantly trying to pull Gabriel and never really gave up. The "war" of werewolves against vampires was really engaging too, it had a pretty interesting history, and seeing it all happen was fun.

One thing I didn't expect, but think this story did great, was the small moments of horror. They're sparse, but the author was able to do it so well, I think in part because the contrast of their usual cutesy art style with the more rough style used for these scenes gave a great juxtaposition. That one moment of that demon trapping Teko's sister, and his body is entirely red and his blood is forming restraints, was great. Some of my favorite imagery in this.

In general, the art was a huge highlight. It looked great, it constantly looked polished throughout and the way the artist drew characters was so distinct yet handsome

saliou got nothing but his looks he’s the black wolf but he didn’t add anything to the story

1. went into more detail about the relationship saliou and Gabriel had and the relationship between the black and white wolf honesty the lack of depth makes saliou and Gabriel relationship (as cute as it already is) lacking is how exactly they got together.

2. fight scenes.. now I know this is a bl but it was really boring to read especially since there are supposed to be fight scenes but the fights weren't actually fights.. Honestly both saliou and Gabe had more than enough power to defeat pualo but they were too weak and it felt like they only won due to plot armor.. I want to see power, actual fights, struggle, but they kept dragging it on and on and on.

3. Pualo, his character is very antagonist he's someone who's pure evil and becomes obsessed with Gabe because he makes him feel something strong. this fits along with number 2 with the fights. I need to see pualo insane obsessed like how he's depicted to be going from cautions and smart to insane because he's that in love with gabe
