This series has been bugging me for so long because how tf a story about grooming and pedophilia gets so many volumes? And it's still ongoing?? AND the rating is high as hell??? Pisses me off everytime i see it.
This is not a hardcore yaoi at all. This is an adorable heart string pulling storyline. Some parts you laugh other parts you cry. But all around adorable series. It took forever for the couple to finally accept each other's feelings but once it was done you felt complete again. This is a manga you can easily get very attached to the charecters because of how they build the story up.
Setting aside the fact that the main couple are “brothers”, I can’t get past the fact that this whole manga just screams grooming. I don’t care how nice or wholesome Haru seems, the guy is a total pedophile. I’m dropping this in vol 2, but even if he waits for Ren to be old enough (which doesn’t seem likely) he is still grooming Ren.
Super Lovers has had a lot of potential these past few years that I've followed it. Although it's to the frustration of many that the main pair has not yet consummated, Abe Miyuki is famous for being very ambiguous and drawing out every detail for as long as she can. The characters seem very real, and at one point this was my favorite BL manga. But as time goes on, the story still remains episodic in nature, with little romance thrown in just as a way to keep the readers hanging on, it seems. And before completing the current pairing, we shift gears to other characters' relationships. The direction of the story right now seems a bit hazy, but it is still exceptional compared to most yaoi manga. That is, it does make genuine attempts to deal with deep concepts and really genuinely depict the warmth of a family and the delicacy of raising a child and cultivating love.
