The ML is not that bad. He did treat her with respect. I don't know about the novel but I barely see him trying to change her. It's more like she's trying to change herself.
I think I heard a lot of story of a couple that love each other that try to change their spouses to suit their needs.
Sometimes, I really disagree with HQs concept that if there is love, everything will work out

It's not bad as I thought it will be. ML is a jerk for lying about the true nature of marriage but he's not as bad as other ML's in an arrange marriage setup. At least he showed respect to their marriage that made him a redeemable character.
FL is a your typical naive and happy go lucky character. She's cute and lovable. It's sad to see her smile disappears. She deserves the happy ending.

If I was her brother, I wouldn't have chewed him out, I would have thrown him out the window and hoped that he didn't provide much of a cushion for my father who would be following him stat.

I hated this with a passion. I'm glad the fl left. She shouldn't have to change herself for anyone. Personally, I would have divorced and found someone else. There is definitely better people out there who won't pretend to love someone for such stupid reasons

My heart aches seeing her become less happy over the course of the story
