Omfg I can't believe it, a real unironic girl falls in love with yankee-looking dude who picks up an abandoned cat in the rain!!! I'm actually flabbergasted, as much as the trope has been parodied I've never actually seen it in the wild, I'm reading just for this (even tho I couldn't rlly take it srsly XD)

Anyway Midori is rlly cheerful and fun, I like her personality!

It really was a nice read. It makes you hopeful for first loves. Actually reading this at 25 me, soo it kinda makes you wishful for that kind of love to come

ken was so selfless tbh i wish he got a seperate story (he is literally the dude from neighborhood story..) i also wish we saw more into their futuree. also super glad maki never groomed him LMFAO i rlly like her. would be heartbroken if she did. akira was annoying as hell and ken treated her sm better
Edit: wait I just read the last chapter of neighborhood story again and ken quite literally made an appearance i didn’t know they were set in the same universe… also the akira dinosaur thing also made an appearance in the form of a money box ?? (piggy bank)makes me wonder how many references and possible character relations I missed in neighborhood story and paradise kiss since I literally read them in backward order..)

don’t get me wrong, i enjoyed reading this so very much it’s just the story itself is so very frustrating.

criticism number one:
i see this common flaw in many shoujos where the author will fall short on the depth and complexity of human emotions by making the female lead only expresses sadness through tears. personally i dislike when stories do this, to each their own— but i think it makes the story lose that mature, sophisticated feel that i prefer in my manga. and oh my god midori cries so much, i’m an emotional person too but midori’s crying is on a whole different level. i think the crying every here and there would be a nice touch but having midori cry in every scene where she feels a different emotion other than happiness is a little overkill, and like i said it makes the story lose that sophisticated touch.

criticism number two:
i don’t like akira. sure he has his moments but throughout the story he continues to fail midori. he took her love for granted and assumed that midori would always be by his side no matter how many times he hurt her. it’s unclear whether what he felt for hiroko was love or not, nonetheless, he loved (romantic or not) hiroko more than he did midori. and it’s so frustrating just seeing midori watch her boyfriend chase after another girl every. goddamn. time. hiroko is mentioned. hiroko injured her ankle during the sports event? let me just pick her up, bridal style, and not once acknowledge my girlfriend until i find out hiroko is completely okay! it’s hiroko’s birthday? let me just tell my girlfriend i have work and then spend the entire day with hiroko! hiroko is going on a blind date? let me leave my girlfriend at the airport and go chase after hiroko even though i already planned to go on a hokkaido date (which was also the last resort to midori and akira’s relationship) with my girlfriend! oh my god??? it’s just so goddamn frustrating and every. single. time, without fail, akira will return to his little safe haven and give her a little kiss to make all the boo-boos and wrongdoings disappear. idk maybe midori is better than me because i sure as hell would not let that slide.

criticism number three:
besides akira being a total douche the last piece of the story that completely irked me was the fact that midori blamed herself, and the fact that akira did not hold himself accountable, for their break up. akira was well aware that he was hurting midori throughout their entire relationship but suddenly it’s midori’s fault when she chooses to move on. it’s just soooo frustrating.

Ok so this manga is so beautiful.I really liked the way the characters are developed and I couldn’t hate any of them because I related to all in some way.It made me cry, feel angry, and happy.

This manga is great but there's still something not really okay with me, i don't like the way FL toy with Ken's feelings when she wants to have a getaway from ML, also why is she so persistent about their love anyway, then she cries nearly every chapter til the end, and how she blindly ships her friend with a person that got a gf like wtf, i know you want good and you like your friend but that's not the way OK?
And ML too, i really can't tell if he likes her or not because he keeps pushing her away like an obstacle whenever he sees a cute girl. He says he liked her since the begining but why tf doesn't he care when his gf washes her face with tears every single day? I notice that whenever FL cries he's gonna end it with a kiss, umm, are you sure it's love? Or isn't it just to make her shut up?
I appreciate the art a lot, i like the style at the start but moving towards the end the style was a lil different. Other than that, it's a waste of time.

Chapter 29(start)

Hands down the best cast of characters in any manga I loved them all so much!

It was pretty good but I hate Akira. He got mad when Midori left him for another guy when He was the one who left her for another girl and then acted like HE WAS THE VICTIM! Damn player! If you really loved her you should've been clear with your feelings and not play around with her while still having feelings for the teacher! You half hearted bastard!

Solidified in my absolute favourite top 3 manga. I've never fell so much emotion from reading. I truely love these characters and the relationships they formed

So much to say about this manga but to keep it short it was amazing. Really lets you experience alot of emotions since it was a roller coaster of them throughout the story. I love that it focus on school and love and everything that HS is about. Also Midori looked so pretty at the end though she was always beautiful.

i really like this manga.

After not a very promissing start, it develops into a great cheerful story with a surprising level of depth and just about the right amount of humor. There are a few flaws, but not very serious ones. Still, it's a nice work if not necessarily a must-read. However, I'm really not into this old school vintage artwork. And the presentation can sometimes be very confusing to the point where it's difficult to follow the story.

I absolutely ADORE this author!!
