I found it enjoyable. The ML is a somewhat traditional, tortured soul from a dysfunctional family with heartless parents, but once he gets past his distrust of the FL and gives her the benifit of a doubt, he quickly learns from her example and realizes he is not his father or bound by his father's ways. The FL was quite noteworthy. She leads by example until the ML could not help but acknowledge her as a partner rather than an adversary which took a great deal of strength and dedication on her part. I appreciated how she always kept in mind that she had, even if accidently, forced the ML into marriage, and set herself to endure whatever she had to as she set out to be a good wife to the man she inadvertently trapped, regardless of how she was treated. I thought her quite worthy of respect.
There's a type of FL that made me like the ML even if he's a jerk. And this FL is one of them. This story is acceptable given all the circumstances. And a pushover is not always bad. I like a pushover that tried hard rather than the one who wallow in self pity.
