Hate how the trans dude keeps getting sexualized and misgendered. Also, inaccurate. After your voice drops due to Testosterone treatments, it can't get higher again, even if you stop. That's why trans women still have deep voices even after transitioning and taking estrogen. Voice changing only goes in one direction and once it happens its irreversible.
rlly am just pushing thru the uncomfortable, gyno-erotic parts of the manga; hate the way tetsuo’s pre-everything body is sexualized but ig it’s mostly for comedic relief or sum, idk + the weird ‘bride’ stuff + aside from that, love the story and the art, ughhh
I liked this story, and the representation is decent, but I wanna give a big, BIG disclaimer for trans men, generally AFAB gq, or any trans person who might project or identify with Tetsuo: you will be miserable I had to read this over the course of a week and a half because I kept hitting roadblocks where I was just too miserable to keep reading; a handful of times I felt physically ill-- this is immensely triggering for dysphoria, so tread very lightly there is targeted sexual harrassment, attempted murder hate crime on a gay man, transphobia, homophobia, mentions of sexual assault of a cis girl by her father, lots of death and murder, and making a trans male character dress femininely as well as him self-harming by putting his mental health in jeopardy trying to be feminine and force others to misgender him because he feels awful and wants to suffer idfk, there is also mentions of suicide, multiple mentions of dysphoria as well as vivid depictions of it, and a closeted bisexual man and a heteroflux trans man somehow being together?? it's kind of a fucking mess but I mean whatever
The main character's transgenderism is exploited for fan service, but - for what it is worth - representation is low in general, so this was very nice. The main mystery is also quite wonderful. I can't wait to finish even if the ending becomes meh. Good read.
I have such a thing for neet characters too god damn
One of the main characters is a Trans man. His struggle is depicted in a way that rings true, but the series features a LOT of fetishized shots of his body.
it's the kind of story you'll want to read in one or two sittings—pretty good
haven't finished, but its nice seeing a trans man character. not sure if he's (or theyre) trans, though. i only ever see trans women represented in media, its kind of lonely to say the least. Ofc, they deserve the rep 1000%.
Id give it a full 5 star if only the artist didn't draw tetsuo in fanservice poses when he clearly doesn't like being seen as a woman. Overall the story is interesting tho, got me binge reading it in two days. Also the art is really good!
