This was the perfect opportunity to explore the topics of sexuality, attraction and love, but it just reduced the characters to their sexes and then when it became too hard (philosophy-wise) the author just turned them back like nothing had happened. I feel like nothing actually happened, they're pretty much the same people they were when the story started. With a premise literally made to have character development and not get any of that... disappointing.
