usually, I despise emperors who keep mistresses and emotionally wreck the heroine (Sovieshu I’m looking at you with zero love in my eyes), but the ML in Lady to Queen had this painful nuance that made it hard to fully hate him. He wasn’t innocent, far from it, but out of all the terrible MLs in historical manhwa, he felt like the lesser evil. Still deeply flawed, still cruel at times, but shaped by trauma in a way that made his growth bearable to see.

i LOVED the yearning. he was so fkin pathetic LOL maybe partly the reason why i enjoyed this. the slow burn, the stolen glances, the aching restraint?? And Tricia finally getting the love, respect, and safety she never had in both lives?? yes

their relationship definitely leaned into trauma bonding, but it didn’t feel toxic, in a way, it felt like two jagged puzzle pieces finally finding a fit. they were broken, yes, but they broke differently, in ways that made them understand each other in a way no one else could.
