I love the fl she's my baby but let's be honest: the ml is a wife beater. You can't tell me otherwise. He "kills ppl for fun but that's okay bc they deserve it"... MULTIPLE TIMES, to multiple people she said she was scared of him nobody even took her seriously. Ok bc in the novel he's bad etc.. but when she met him for the second times it didn't get better... That's a huge red flag.
And Emily really idek... That girl's been spreading propaganda Abt the duke since chapter one... Telling the fl it's her fault she's being harassed by the duke but she was drunk and she doesn't even REMEMBER. + Nothing indicates the duke was drunk (quite the contrary) so don't tell me he didn't know she was drunk.
Poor girlie first time she drinks shit like this happens, if I were her I wouldn't be caught ten meters next to alcohol. (I have to say it's quite unrealistic that she never had alcohol before bc she's a noble, but she has to be pure, right ? That's why she didn't even have a first kiss before she met him. )
Honestly the thing I like abt this story is that we understand why fl is attracted to ml. Look at her parents...
The dad is awful, the mom is enabling him. Generational trauma. With a dad as awful as him ofc shell think the ml is ok even though the novel and her instincts are telling her he's bad.
Now, this story is packed with double standards. The ml is shown as someone who ruins the fcs lives who are against ogfl. We don't even hear abt what he does to the male characters. The ex fiancee was just shouted at when multiple times he is told as someone who kills women. Kate is told that nobody wants an obsessive woman. But the ml is praised for being an obsessive man (1)
The fl was reprimanded for sleeping out one night when ml's parents didn't care (2).
The dad is depicted as a bad husband who ruined the mothers life (became quiet, stopped smiling) and all he had to do was get on his knees and cry.... (Someone commented that when you get older, you understand, but there's only one thing to understand: when you make stories, you have a choice. Why write about how awful the dad is, how he made his wife stop smiling, how she was going to divorce just for him to take him back ? He didn't even grovel or anything for the years he's made her miserable. That's how real life is, yes, but why romanticize it? And why write a rofan just to shove us shitty mls in the face...). I'd like to see how they're going to deal with bad fcs... They'll probably get killed off....
Also why are the rumours pertaining to the mls family so gendered ? Dad taxidermy, son insects, mom BEAUTY bc ofc a woman without her beauty is nothing. Also let her age wtf.

All in all, in case the relationship fails she has no support system, her friends were bribed into telling her to stay in the relationship, her dad is going to kill her if she tries to divorce, her mom going to stay silent, her in-laws will try to keep her in the family even though she's unhappy, she can't run away he's too powerful...

I made a more complete review of why I think the author is misogynistic on commentary when I tagged it on 'reading'. But like yeah the author has a serious problem.
I don't agree with you on the mom taking the dad back though. I think it honestly depends on the woman (my mother stayed way longer than necessary, although she did leave and not take him back; I know a lot of women who stayed), which is why I said even though making mcs mom take him back is realistically accurate, it doesn't make sense as fiction (it must be a choice the author specifically made) bc in a normal rofan the mom would have left and wouldn't take him back.
It's not even as if we asked for her to leave. The author, on their own accord decided to make her leave, speak of divorce, show how happy she is without the dad, then take him back.
Is it a response to the movement rising in Korea about women wishing to remain single ?

I literally skimmed through this manhwa and I think the issue I have other than the literal sexual assault is that yes. The mom could take him back. But what the fuck was that half assed apology? And then straight up just victim blaming the mom as a "teehee they were foolish". Like, this writer cannot write. I am not surprised.

The entire story's plot is just that. If at least it was portrayed that she had pleasure it's still bad but there's at least something... Or here, it's 'implied' (bc a woman doesn't feel pleasure, right ?? Also she did feel pleasure bc of his huge dick as stated in multiple chapters).
And while reading I just thought one thing... Why ???

Him not showing one hint of remorse shows he doesn't care. heter bc he knows the parents are going to let him do whatever he wants, of bc he doesn't love her enough (or maybe, both).
I honestly think the author has a vendetta against women and it translates into this. Ppl can't see it bc of the cutesy art, but it's there.

Latest chapter got me thinking that potentially, the author knows how to write and is doing that shit on purpose. Bc ain't no way 2/4 of the chapter is fl blatantly saying no and not being listened to and still it passes off 'good'.
It just reads as the author knows that they're writing something bad and so twists it to make it appealing (idk if you understand?) . So honestly I'm not surprised either, just sad we hit a new low.
Ch 34 :Very interesting how one of the first panels is us and the ml looking at the fl from above. It's an artistical choice that, for me, sums the story pretty well.
Then Emily appears and honestly I stopped caring about her chapters ago. She reminds me of the dai li, brainwashing ppl about thinking that everything is fine and that others are crazy for thinking otherwise. It wouldn't even shock me if we learned that she was actually a spy from the duke, with the order of distracting the fl until he finds a way to make sure she can't ever leave him. I don't hate her bc hating female characters from such a misogynistic story would be quite lame, but I really really despise her.
The gift thingy.... Why make it sexual ?? Tired of those male hoes that we keep treating as if normal when actually sex addicts. (Starting calling ml mh)
And if sexual, why not reciprocated?? Why not him saying 'oh well, I'm your gift too!' and he starts undressing himself/or if we want to be comical and (cringe), he gets in the gift box too (then maybe they're too close, fl starts feeling arousal (bc yes women get aroused too) and they get on the bed !!! )

Fl says 3 times wait, then five times shows reluctance, 2 times asks him to stop, and HITS HIM !!! And he proceeds to ignore her and continue...
It's shown how much she doesn't even want him, bc she refused verbally (lexical field of refusal, exclamation point), physically (tried to get away from him, hits him (she said she was scared of him and still she hurt him, can't imagine what kind of distress she was put under)) , even in her thoughts (called him a jerk). Author needs to stop with the bullshit, wdym 'he doesn't hear her' , they were as close as a tongue and a lip, ain't no way he didn't hear. And even if he didn't hear, her body language was more than enough.
Funny how the only no that was ever taken into account was his in this chapter... Also I never like food analogies in manwhas bc it's always the same thing : mh a dog or tiger, and fl rabbit. But now, we've hit a new (not really but whatever) low !! Fl is a bone. Expressionless, lifeless, without speech, thrown into ml's mouth without permission.
Mh's parents I honestly can't stand. They keep acting as if they really like the fl but if that was the case, they would be able to tell that at least she's uncomfortable. Selfish ass hoes creating a disgusting son of hoes. You see your kid making a hickey on someone with her parents still in the house and you don't even reprimand him. Enablers.
The hickey part just proved to me that mh's doesn't really love the fl. When you love someone, even if their parents are shitty, you see your partner still being more than cordial with them so you try to make yourself look good in front of them. Bc you love and respect your partner. But look at what community duck did: he just laughed. Didn't look embarrassed, showed no sigh of remorse, had the fall to laugh; never saw that kind of disrespect before. He also knows the dad is conservative. He doesn't care.
Also the dad's conservatism only appears when there's no one around (man) to contradict him I see. Coward.
Nothing in this story is lightheaded, red flags everywhere. Anytime I reread a passage, I find a new thing that upsets me. Ppl are only saying that bc of the cutesy art. But at the end of the day it's not funny, it's not cute, dangerous as fuck especially since it's targeted at little girls.
Ppl are all over the comments saying you got to turn your brain off while reading this, and at the beginning I thought the same. It was unsettling from the very beginning, but so is every rofan about a drunken one night stand. But then her not caring about her friends, same friends discarding her plea for help just for jewels and especially the mom mess made it nearly impossible to turn your brain off. As of ch 34, the toxicity of this story is unhideable. 3/4 of the chapter rape and apology of it, 4/4 ml being a horny asshole. Again, not cute.
I want to see fl's development so I'm not dropping this
I wish you luck in continuing to read. Horror Lead (Because that is what this man is) and his family can be yeeted into the sun and honestly FL just needs to leave the entire place and live out in the countryside and experience a normal life. Hopefully with individuals who actually give a fuck about consent.
