280526 OMG IT'S FINALLY COMPLETE FUCK YESSS i've been waiting for this!!

290526 (5.5) oh man. i want to love this, i do. but this was really missing something for me. idk. the romance honestly didn’t feel very convincing to me. it was so fast paced, and it had me questioning whether chika’s feelings were genuine or not. imo, it kinda felt like chika was a bit pushy and took advantage of how tao is a fan in order to make sexual advances towards him. also, it was set in a host club, but we rarely ever even saw tao serving customers? it felt like the entire premise and setting was kinda shoved to the side and only there so tao would fanboy over jin (chika) constantly.

i was expecting a completely different character when i saw tao on the cover. his vibe is just so different on there compared to in the actual manga. i totally thought he'd be the "cold beauty" type with his slicked-back hair, sharp features and expression. instead, he was more the golden retriever type lol. he looks and just IS totally different in the manga and i cant lie, i was a little disappointed. also CAN WE PLEASE STOP MAKING PINK HAIR A MID-TONE GREY IN BLACK AND WHITE MANGA OMG that light, pastel pink hair colour he has is MUCH closer to white than grey when you take out the hue like bruhh. it makes him look like a totally different character.

now for what i did enjoy. i lovee chika’s (current) design, and i think the other hosts are cute too. i especially liked the curly haired guy and the black-haired guy with moles. they’re handsome fr. right up next to chika’s design for my favourite designs in this manga was yamato’s for sure. he’s genuinely gorgeous. love his hair, mole, piercings and smile sm.

i wish that yamato’s dynamic with chika was explored further bc he genuinely seemed like he had a crush on chika too. although i guess you could interpret as fan behaviour? he even said that jin just makes you fall in love tho, while having a longing look in his eyes. his feelings just weren’t explored and kinda only existed to add jealousy to chika and tao’s relationship. meanwhile, we don’t get closure or details about yamato’s actual feelings, his relationship with chika, etc. he doesn’t even really interact with chika that much, he mostly interacts with tao. instead of tao being jealous, which you’d kinda expect from this set up, it was mostly chika who was jealous. jealous of his past self because tao was fanboying over the photos that yamato would send him, and also jealous because he was becoming close to yamato.

overall, i still think it is a nice, short read and it was cute. however, it definitely did fall below my expectations.
