Completed at ch 18. This story sure is a mixed bag. I'm conflicted on the messaging. Also it's very strange that the seme sexually assaults the uke at the start and is so pushy for sex but starting in like ch 4 he does a complete 180 and is the gentlest, greenest flag ever. It's definitely that the author started writing him one way and changed their mind after getting far enough into the story, still weird. I kinda just split the first 4 chapters off as their own weird thing because the characterization is so different.

Also. As much as I love the uke's resolution with his parents, I don't love that his grandpa continued pushing this relationship and feeding his abusive parents information about him without his knowledge or consent. And I don't like the messaging that this was a good thing after all because they were able to reconcile.

BUT people are complicated and imperfect, and I understand why he did. I'm glad the parents realized they had fucked up and were at least trying to understand. And I liked even more that their joy at seeing their son in a loving relationship won out over their homophobia. That one really got me.

Also the seme's mom slowly coming to care for him in the face of his relentless kindness, admitting that she abused him--I liked that. She was despicable but between her and the ukes parents, I like the overall message that people can change. I don't think you should let them abuse you to get there, but people's relationships, especially with their parents, are complicated. I'd rather not victim blame him for being unable to let go of someone who should have been a parental figure.

AND most importantly, I love that the uke continued to stand up for himself against his parents and only reciprocated when he saw they were genuinely happy for him for finding love. He was a fucking idiot with his shitty ex but I can forgive it. He hasn't had many relationships, romantic or otherwise, outside his ex to learn how to navigate that kinda situation.

These characters were complicated. I appreciate that.

If it wasn't for the first 4 ch, this would be an 8/10 but God the same was AWFUL for those.

Multiple attempted SA then a complete 360 character shift into a green flag main character that unfortunately does not redeem the beginning of the story is that part didn’t exist I would’ve loved it. They were so sweet and affectionate, but it ruins it.

Onetime

Old school yaoi where if they aren't molested by ch2 and bang by ch3, you're fired. What modernizes it a bit is a touch of cringe. It gets better as it goes on, but story is simple and clichéd. Art is nice.

I had no expectations whatsoever for this story, and yet by the end of it, I loved these two and how honest they were with one another. Also, how slow and steady they were in the beginning, from just kissing and cuddling together long before they decided to be intimate— it was a green flag couple and story. Once again this was just filled fluffy & wholesome; I like how you can tell Toma does come from a family of love and I glad you got to see his parents before and after their relationship was made known, I also like how the grandpa was aware of everything from the get-go and how he keep saying "tell Kaoru hi" to Toma because he already knew where the relationship was heading way to long before either one of them did which was very cute and wholesome
