Contains: Travel between worlds/realms, vaguely historical
It’s been forever since I read this so my memory is foggy but I do remember it was good, worth checking out for sure. It involves a little world travelling and pseudo historical setting.
Contains: Isekai
I debated leaving this in the shoujo list but really it’s all men all the time. It’s also a classic isekai so there’s also that. I dropped it years ago but that was solely because I ran out of chapters and releases were hella slow. It does the whole fantasy royals, European ambiance thing big time.
Contains: Summoning-style Isekai; consent under duress (it’s a life-or-death situation)
Super amusing take on the “summoning of the saintess” trope except ML is the unwanted add on. ML is a workaholic and just…keeps going with it in the fantasy world as per usual. Man needs a little shaking up in his work-centric life
Contains: Otome Isekai
Who would ever want a harem of men when you can go for the beautiful villainess? Men are gross. This, of course, is an otome game situation but make it yuri. FL is a tad pushy?? I wasn’t a fan.
Contains: Otome-style Isekai but gay
Most of these don’t even get the proper shoujo ai ending they deserve, though the first one is good and one is ambiguously poly which is kind of fresh, it’s such a win-win-win situation for love triangles I want more.
Contains: Historical Fantasy
Just a fantastic historical yuri with complex characters and deep exploration of class differences and shitty life experiences (and having a love that perseveres despite that). Neither of the leads are perfect but their flaws keep them grounded. Definitely recommend it as a well rounded, complex series that isn’t overly long.
Contains: Time Travel; tragedy
Pain and suffering. Going back in your grandfather’s ost to learn more about him only to learn his relationships we more complex than expected. It’s very dramatic but well written and fairly true to the historical era and the societal pressures along with it. It’s not all happy and has a more shoujo angle but is more mature in tone and subject matter than it appears.
Contains: Historical Fantasy; rape, homophobia, violence
There’s all kinds of yikes going on in this series, consent being one of them and general systemic homophobia.
Contains: Isekai; references to past slavery and sexual abuse
Wholesome tale of two older beast men taking in a poor human who isekai’d into their world and was left to a terrible fate. They take good care of him and make sure he’s well taken care of. Trust me, it’s a healing story (literally).
Contains: Historical Fantasy; dub-con, tentacles, other sexperiments
Human experimentation of the sexual tentacle plant variety. Don’t ever sign contracts unless you knows what’s really gonna go down afterwards. I might appreciate tentacles so maybe I think this is all right.
