He's a rule enforcing, cool to his staff, hard-headed and hearted doctor, and she's the nurse who has to work with him. Even though she's demanded she not fall for another 'elite' doctor, and this one's insufferable, she starts to like him anyway. Then there's a huge misunderstanding, and she rebuffs his attempts at friendliness with coldness until she tries to jump ship and her friends force this idiocy to a head.
It's cute, but makes very little sense when knackered. It begins smoothly, the gates start to creak then BANG they're off. Middlanowhere Bumfucked, she's a rich, steady as a rock widow; he's an incoming tornado of a lawyer and single father ripping through life. Flash hugs, stolen kisses and a wacky embezzlement/murder/hit-and-run investigation all leading to the altar. Wow...?...wow.
1) And it's only listed because it's the first. Jesus H. Christ! Male Lead's ears are for decoration purposes only, not to mention he's a complete asshole; his step mother's a greedy, stuck-up cow; his half bother's issues have NOTHING to do with his orientation and everything to do with his being an entitled brat; and finally, the female lead... Sadly, there are a plethora of people that are that stupid believing wuv makes it all better.
2) They're each seeking custody of a niece while he's under a misunderstanding and acts accordingly and she doesn't get his issues and initially doesn't care. A night of raging lust has him worrying about fertility, but she wants none of his arrogantly offered support. They finally converse and he actually listens and trusts, but she's quick to close down before he admits to feelings. Better than the first.
3) This wasn't bad. Sure, he's still an arrogant bastard, but he has a good reason why he doesn't want emotional attachment. She agrees to enter into a contract of marriage for the sake of reproducing in order to save her father and have the child she desires. She eavesdrops, grabs the wrong stick due to her own issues, but stands relatively strong with it until she confronts him and learns the truth. The best of this series.
She's from a salt of the Earth family from the sticks, he was raised in the system without ever knowing who his father was. He has clawed his way up by being cool headed, relatively ruthless, and hardworking. She's running from the past, but wants to make a go of joining the cubicle monkeys for a chance at success. She ends up being his personal assistant on her first day! It's an 'awww' type.
She was seventeen when they met and she fell hopelessly in love. He was under the thumb of his overbearing father and did as he was told. His father declared: 'Begone, gold-digger, else I shall destroy you!' So, being the scared young girl she was, she went, living in secret and raising her son. Knownst to us, but unbeknownst to him, what his father did, he hopes to get to know his son and, maybe, recapture the love he lost. There should've been a reckoning, but... not bad.
Twofer! 1) She was pregnant when they had a fight and she left him. Now, years later, she's torn about telling her son about his father, but fate intervenes by putting her in a coma, so the boy decides to find his father himself. He does, it's cute, and works out in the end. 2) She fucks the town playboy and winds up preggers *gasp*, so his brother steps up to the plate and takes her. Seven years later, everything comes to a head and she must prove herself.
1) They meet at a masquerade ball and have a standing wonder fuck, only they are both from wealthy, aristocratic families, so it's complicated. She breaks her engagement to one man to marry the father of her baby, a man she's hated for years. He's even more complicated than she, as his past is tragic and must come to terms with it to get a clue. She's a bit childish, but gets better, he's just hurt, but he learns happiness.
2) Emotionally constipated men take a bit more work to understand, most especially when those men are high on the monarchy ladder. Yeah, he's an ass, but did as he was told. She is a collage student working in a exploitative restaurant, mistaking the sharp dressed man as a salesman. They have an affair, he leaves her, she makes the discovery that adds to her pregnant misery, and he returns to whisk her away. They have issues... eventually working it out.
