He's a plastic surgeon who might have a way to fix the damage she sustained, but he's eccentric and comes across as rude. Through their work together, she gets conned in love, he's worried about her emotional state, so ups and downs and turn arounds, but it's cute and they understand each other by the end of it. Cute.
So, he didn't let the floosy hit her, he just wasn't quick enough to stop it before hand contacted face. As for the rescuing... When someone's been mistreated, it takes gumption and the abused needs to free themselves from the emotional tumult such mistreatment creates. A random act of kindness brought them together, he stepped up when needed and she settled herself as needed. Cute.
It's cute, but that boy needs a whoopin', though he did admit his misdeed while bawling, still... She's a nurse and has worked and given up much for her family. A famous doctor needs help, she accepts to plea for aid, and so begins their sweetly blossoming courtship. The boy causes some trouble, and all looks bleak for a minute, but Doc tracks her down to bring her back.
These two start off on the wrong foot and it stays that way until the very end. He fights his attraction by being curt and cold, she fights hers by being snippy and defensive, though she does come over all flushed quite often. Proper communication would have made this a very short story, so that's the plot device. Okay, but typical.
He is a doctor beyond emotional constipation to be highly impacted and needing surgery. She's a freelance nurse made to feel the yo-yo with his hot and cold attitude, and eventually has enough and hides herself away, abandoning his gifts and her salary to be 'lost'. He realizes he's being a cynical ass and searches until he finds her and apologizes.
She's a sweethearted nurse from England gone to work in Holland. She and the doctor who recruited her are sparking off each other, but she's not a much of a fighter and he's got a deficiency in the balls department when it comes to the exceptionally rude, mean, cruel and jealous bitch he's got hanging all over him. She's a stalker, but no one ever tells her to piss off! Other than that it's sweetie-pie.
She has a goal, while working for the bare minimum under the employ of an old woman who needs a spanking, not coddling. He's not sure why, but he feels compelled to help this unfortunate creature working her ass off for his aunt. Over the course of the story, the old bat never grows endearing, her goddaughter is disgusting, the man and housekeeper fall in love and, yea, that's it. It's cute-ish.
So slow and sweet. He's a wealthy doctor and she's an orphan struggling her way through life. She gets sick and is forced to remain in hospital, which loses her her job and flat. He's dumbstruck by the callousness, so he helps set her up with a new job and living arrangements. His job is done, right? No, he can't get her off his mind, she can't get him off hers. There's some pokes by a high class cow, but eventually he puts his foot down and goes after his wuv.
She lost her father and her childhood home in rapid succession, her stepmother was manipulative, her step-sister cruel, and during this low point, she gets preyed upon by a serial fucker. She never gives it up to him, even as he tries to manipulate her with his leaving, but she follows him to Amsterdam. There she learns the truth and is guided into wuv by another doctor who appreciates her.
She's a bit dreamy, but she uses it to cope with the stress of her job. He's aggressive in his pursuit of her, but not with the right words. She has some misgivings about unworthiness and possible relationships to go with her innermost desires about the good doctor, made all the more potent by his whiny bitch of an aunt, but he hunts her down quickly and declares himself, then he clears up the misunderstandings.
