FINALLY A SPORTS-CENTERED PLOT WITH A FEMALE MC! there's no capitalization on "omg, she's a girl who can drive well?!" & doesn't exoticize girls in the field, and they're all treated as normal competitors. and mc fulfills a lot of typical, male-protag shounen (+ intense sport manga) tropes and dynamics with others, which is very refreshing since it guarantees a lot of platonic friendships and rivalries. also this got me to watch hours of drifting videos lol.
you finally see one of those "girlbosses get revenge on scumbag male partner" stories where they DONT center the girls' around their ex. they develop in their own ways, and they don't execute revenge for the man- they do it specifically for their own reasons and the author makes sure to write a narrative where it's on the girl's lives, friendships, and interactions with the misogynistic world they live in. you really fall in love with each individual girl in differe
oh god the art is so PRETTY. and omg finally? a supernatural shounen plot of an unassuming student who got dragged into a questionable world that borders mortals and the supernatural, with questionable but very individualized powers that everyone craves for their own specific reasons, but with a legit female mc? like WHAT A SCORE. also i like her hair :)
kind of a female mc? tbh she's not really the female mc hardcore vibes, and she definitely lives for a male mc who has a deeper backstory than her despite having less screentime, but she's the one who drives the plot, has the power, and is essentially kind of a plot tool with sentimentality. also the art is super pretty, and i *really* like her even though she doesn't exactly fit on this list despite giving me the same vibes of short-circuiting my processing centers.
tbh girl is more like second lead, but she's SO hot and her attitude just fucking gets to me ngl. i aspire to be her. she dictated the part of my frontal lobe that controls lust and my perception of self.
