uhhhh tbh i consider MC a guy since he's not trans/considers himself a girl, BUT, the perceived women are portrayed as badass in their own right, and like holy shit i'm in LOVE with this as a concept. like haha no men? fuck yeah-
YES it has a strong romance plotline but like the MC is actually so cool. the way she incorporates modern ideals and feminism isn't in a "pick me girl" or condescending type of way, and empathy isn't extended to just her gender or to "those who deserve it" as equality is on a baseline scale. i REALLY love her.
romance is distant and basically nonexistent (she's just sympathetic of some non-trashy guys she comes across) and she has VERY hardhitting morals and judgment due to them. i actually REALLY like MC way more than i thought i would, since i was initially worried she'd be those 2D pick-me-girls. like she's legit girlboss omg. also there is NO ML and she's an independent entity. love her.

okay it IS romance driven plot, but i REALLY love meri. she's hilarious, opinionated, and is NOT a pick me a girl in any form. she's like the shameless mc (you know those mcs who are opportunistic, she's like that but with materialism/comfort) and i LOVE that about her. her personality is relentless, and good for her.

Omg thank you so so sosososo much for this list!!! I found so many new titles to check out. Istg, girl protags in Shounen type stories or ANY other types of male dominated stories are just SUCH a breath of fresh air
Also, I have some recommendations for titles that could be added to this list ;))))))
Starting off with one of my favorites:
The Last Golden Child, this one is basically like a Shounen action-fantasy adventure story except the protagonist is a girl. She starts off weak but progressively gets stronger and there's absolutely no shortage of strong and powerful female characters in this one. Also, no romance at all. MC develops very nicely, tho I can't say she's the brightest of the bunch lol.
All in all, a solid 8/10 read, will make you cry multiple times.
Fray, also a grittier Shounen type story, but with no shortage of female characters. Like seriously, all the girls are badass as f**k, no matter which side they're on. MC is ruthless to her enemies and isn't afraid to get brutal. I highly recommend this one!
I Became A Legendary Archmage By Reading A Book, there's two protagonists in this, one girl and one boy. I haven't read far enough in to know for sure but it doesn't seem like there's gonna be any romance? Anyway, magical academy setting with lots of action and power ups, girl MC is neither sexualized nor exists only to make the boy MC shine. They work together very nicely in fact, plus their mentor is hilarious lol. All characters in this are very competent and cool.
Side Characters Deserve Love Too, I'm ngl this is on the exact same level of crack comedy as Touch My Little Brother And You're Dead!, protagonist is just unhinged for her favorite character in the story she's transmigrated in. Starts off working as a humble stable boy (she cross dresses A LOT), and slowly becomes a powerful swordmaster later on all to protect her fave from dying. I super recommend this one, it's a real treat to read!

heyy! i really like this list and i found a bunch of really good mangas cuz of this list. Just wanted to point that the mc of 'Hen Na Le' is actually a dude. The mangaka just draws him like really pretty ig lol. There's a live action for this manga and it's mc is a dude. I haven't read the og novel but if you check the wiki it says that the mc is a dude. Just thought I'd let you knowヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~
