The Essentials - BL

This is another comprehensive list of the basics and the celebrities of the BL genre. Some of these stories, I would argue, are not my favorite, and there is no common theme between any of the selections - only, every single read in this list will have achieved some degree of notable popularity within the BL spheres, and are "essentials" thusly. If one were to wish for a "core curriculum" for the BL world, this would be my list to give them in seeking their "education" on the matter. I highly recommend this list to beginners.

There are a number of series that will not make it to this list because they have overlapping authors. I try as much as possible to give a variety of authors, and I will add two or more series by the same author only if I feel they each individually have their own legacy that constitutes separate rankings on the list. In that way, be advised that nearly all of the artists have substantial reader followings, and more than one of their manga tend to reach popularity. 

If I could create a comprehensive list based on mangaka, I would (because there are a number of people, such as Hinako Takanaga, Fumi Yoshinaga, and Ayano Yamane that are beloved for several different series, all of which I cannot possible include here and rate fairly against one another).
