A story illustrating the capacity of one person to transform the outcome of a situation and how that can be taken too far into controlling others vs. creating freedom even when it creates complications. I appreciate the symbolism of the main character's ability with plants, creating hope amid hopelessness and leaving it to take root and grow. The way darkness represents unhealed wounds is significant as well. Metaphor abounds.
Shounen Ai/ Asexual / Bromance relationship
Two extremes of emotional isolation meet. The symmetry of their gifts and needs shape a rebellion from the often unfair expectations of society. It carries them too far, yet somehow they rescue each other in the process.
Bromance / Shounen Ai
Learning to understand the motives behind the decisions people make and loving them for who they are in the face of the consequences.
A younger brother realizes his brother is gay. This is the story of how their family fluctuated around his relationship from ignorance to discovery to understanding ...
Highly recommended to share as an introduction to gay relationships in fiction. Potentially useful for confused individuals who are trying to adapt to someone close to them coming out.
The first volume of this story is excellent. There are many friendships and interconnected story arcs alongside the main pairing. My opinion might change if the author keeps dragging out the resolution of the relationship, though. As of now, I'm leaving it in the four star list because it covers an important perspective on communication and isolation in relationships. Deafness is the theme ... and there are many who are incapable of truly listening even though they're not deaf...
It's the personalities of the characters that captivate me in this one. It amuses me how the main character is so stuck in his head, constantly analyzing everything ... including himself. Honest, clear communication just makes it better.
Casual relationship butterfly meets serious guy looking for commitment. Trying something new might end up being more addicting than anticipated. My favorite part is the level of communication, respect, and honesty between them.
Learning to create stability in a relationship. (Also ... a pet cat ... aww!) I disagree with some of the choices the characters make, especially when it comes to their interactions with the second couple, yet their decisions make sense within the story frame and they actually learn from their mistakes. Once again, the best moments in this manga arrive with communication. It becomes so much easier to understand each other when you actually express your feelings ... who knew?
For once a story deals with rape trauma in a realistic manner. This manga received a bonus star for the uncle, the friends, and a strong focus on consent.
