While 9.0 isn't a bad score, it deserves higher. The exploration of trauma in this story is so well-conveyed. As someone who has been SA'd, I related so much to the thought process--blaming yourself, questioning yourself, trying to find meaning in it, to run from it, to accept it while fighting against it. The path to recovery isn't linear, and I think for some that may make this read frustrating. But to me, it feels honest, poignant, and at the end of it all, hopeful.
What a wonderful read. It's rare that I like both protagonists equally, but doting, golden retriever seme and outwardly stoic, inwardly soft uke is totally my type. I also enjoyed that there was conflict, but it never felt prolonged or melodramatic. It was such a soft, compelling, satisfying story. The way they openly expressed their love was immensely refreshing.
The chemistry these two have is UNREAL. They're total dumbasses and I love them.
I saw that this one is adapted from a novel, and that makes sense in that the story feels more focused than a lot of webtoons I've read. I wouldn't say anything about the story is particularly groundbreaking, but the uke is cute--I love his determination to put the work in to turn his life around--and the seme is a major dreamboat. He asks for consent like a damn champ! Also absolutely adore the lesbian best friend and want her to be my girlfriend.
This is such a well-written story, and very unique for a smutty bl webtoon. I loved the art style and the historical setting. Everything is so well-realized. The seme is a gentle giant and puppy dog sweet and the uke is tough and smart. I really adore them both.
The romance and seme in this one are underdeveloped imo, but I didn't really miss it. The side characters are so well-formed and lovable, yet the story feels focused and isn't bogged down with filler. It's baffling to me that people are labeling Sehyun as a "slutty uke." He's an abused, manipulated, disenfranchised guy doing what he thinks he has to for survival, and my heart really ached for him.
There's nothing all that groundbreaking about this one, but it has a gentle tone that I really enjoy. The seme is a wonderful combination of doting and protective yet feisty and stern when he needs to be. And I appreciated that they didn't try to redeem the uke's abusive ex. The art takes a pretty big dip in quality in the second season, but even so, I'd happily re-read it again.
