I read the novel for this first and it's better but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. The author role-swapped the aggressive ceo rapey top type and made him the bottom instead. MC/bottom keeps pushing the top/ML's buttons and won't take rejection and gets wrecked as a result. Contains SA. Both characters are red flags. They switch at the very end in the novel (only implied) but the ML prefers to top and it's implied they usually stick to that.

MC/bottom is known as forever second place and has always lost to ML/top in everything when they were in the same high school and has a huge obsession with ML as a result. Fast forward to the future, MC is a journalist trying to get dirt on ML. Relationship development and character psychology are top notch.

Gangster bottom used to be a straight man until he was caught screwing his boss's wife and the boss made his other henchmen screw him as punishment. The top was the boss's son and has an oedipus daddy complex with the bottom. Top is the obsessed manipulative type but the bottom is aware.
