Kimi Ni Todoke is my favorite shojo manga ever. It was the first anime/manga I watched where there wasn’t harmful depictions of love between characters, and when there was it was only to teach the characters that love isn’t supposed to be toxic. I love that Sawako and Shota’s feelings for each other are mutual right off the bat, and I absolutely adore the depiction of their clumsy first love. Seriously, this story is too sweet and wholesome. It holds a special place in my heart
This story is 10/10. I literally bawled my eyes out because I love the MC and her love interest so much. Her story is so tragic yet the ending is so satisfying. If you’re sick of the stereotypical Isekai stories, then give this one a read. It flips all of the stupid cliche tropes on their head and brings a new take to the isekai genre. It starts off light hearted but becomes a lot darker near the end. The MC is clever and cunning, but also vulnerable and kind.
TW: self harm, suicide, death
I religiously re-read this story. I love seeing both the MC and the love interest overcome their obstacles and learn to love and open themselves up to being loved. Both character’s arcs are great and I appreciate that their relationship isn’t just sunshine and rainbows.
TW: severe bullying
I love this story so much. The main character is such a cutie pie, and her story arc and character growth is honestly so fulfilling. Plus, I really love the love interest!
Honestly, this story is such a classic. I love the second couple so much, I think they’re so cute!
This story really surprised me! I went into it not expecting much, but the relationship between the MC and the love interest is so refreshingly healthy and I love it! Both characters are really mature and it was just super fun reading a great story after reading a ton of not-so-great ones.
TW: Death
I literally bawled my fucking eyes out reading this story. All at once it made me hopeful for a love like these two characters have, and yet it ripped my heart out and stomped on it with zero disregard. I have such a soft spot for elderly couples in love and this story hit me right in the feels.
