At first I was hesitant to get into Frieren because a lot of DnD-type fantasy manga/anime have disgusting tropes in them but Frieren showed no sign of any of that. It’s a heartwarming, bitter-sweet, yet funny series about an elf that wants to become so much more than the jaded, aloof person she was for thousands of years. It is a beautiful story of growth and friendship and grief that I think deserves so much praise and love. This story touched my heart and I love it to pieces.
I initially read this a year ago but dropped it because I felt like Maomao was a Mary Sue, but after watching the anime I’ve come to love her so much. She’s so intelligent and kind, and even though many of the things she does seem strange she always does them with the intent of helping others. This has become my new comfort series.
This was the series that kick started my new found love for fantasy anime. Everything about Dungeon Meshi is so comforting- from the characters to the art style- I cannot express how much I love this series. Plus, all of the little details in the way that the monsters are cooked are so cute. You can tell that Ryoko Kui took great care into creating her world.
I love Kimi ni Todoke with my entire heart. It’s unlike a lot of the other shojo manga that came out around the same time because the feelings between Sawako and Kazehaya are mutual from the very beginning. It’s so refreshing to see a wholesome, fluffy romantic couple work through their hardships and make new memories with each other. They are the greenest flags ever and I wish I could read about their journey beyond their high school years.
Jjk is genuinely so traumatizing.
