DROPPED - waste of my time, it was trying to be so psychologically deep, but just failed to deliver - a comment: "From one fucked up situation to the next. It tried to have the deepness some other stories convey, but it fell short. Due to that it felt empty, I feel bad for Iori but Manbu is not likable at all. Nothing about him is good, he's a fucking asshole. Iori needs someone gentle, but I don't think he'd feel comfortable with someone like that since it's not what he's used to dealing with."
CLICHÉ IN A BAD WAY; MANLY UKE; WASTE OF MY TIME
This yakuza smut BL had so much potential but the result is a shallow & rushed rapey BL. It lacks substance, depth, & I don't remember why the uke fell in love with the rapist seme (sg about camellias & true self, whatever). Also the characters are pretty annoying. The only good thing is the uke's chara design - buff manly man I'd instantly & consensually dick down & bury my head bw his tits.
Smut focused BL with bad writing. Bad writing:lack of character development, no redemption arc/consequences for the seme, uke just forgives seme bc of his guilt & bc he's delusional. This story pretends to be a 'light' version of toxic-on-toxic relationship - tbh, it's a freak-on-delulu victim relationship. It almost became a decent story about mutual healing by the middle part when the couple were actually discussing the weird mental state, traumas, & toxic relationship they had got trapped in.
I don't wanna waste my time with this. I started to read this when the first chapters were uploaded, but I got sorta pissed off of how badly the uke was treated, so i just bookmarked it. Then, now I see that the story has ended and oh, the comment section... Just have a look at the comment section and the uploader's note at the end of ch 26
his story was trying to be deep, meaningful and sexy. It had potential but the execution was horrible (e.g., bad pacing, loose ends, rushed ending, nothing has been explained by the end, the abusive and toxic behavior of the hunter is just simply forgotten and forgiven, lame moral regarding the context and circumstances of the characters, very negative and infantilizing representation of childhood trauma and mental health etc). The only good thing is the originality of the story.
I skim-read this. This is shit.
Uke's past life was a nightmare due to seme's twisted approach to love (obession, control, ownership) & his vulnerable status as a slave. His present life is no different - he's financially/socially vulnerable & abused by the seme, a chaebol. But there's def character development & progress, & the rushed, bittersweet, optimistic ending suggests this time they may have a happy ending. he story had potential, it gives some food for thought, has psychological depth, but the execution failed.
sorta regret reading this
I hope the novel is much better than this adaptation. Short analysis: not a well-organized & written BL. Negative: 1 plotholes; 2 sudden tonal shift; 3 more entertaining side charas; 4 gas-lightning manipulator seme with no real chara development; 4 uke is with his manipulating lover bc he doesn't know better; 5 pacing problems. Positive: I love the uke so much - he isn't stupid just doesn't know normal (dating) life & starved for affection.
