This.
This is an incredible and unique story. I'm very much enjoying it and I really cannot, for the life of me, understand why more people aren't reading it. It's sweet, wholesome most of the time, with action, and family intrigue, with a romance plot that isn't plagued only with misunderstanding. The walls up aren't arbitrary and I have not once found myself yelling at the characters over flaws the author has.
STOP WHAT YOU'RE READING AND READ THIS!
I love snakes, but not as much as it seems this pitiable sacrifice protagonist comes to love her snake husband. Sounds a little fricked up doesn't it? Well it's actually quite adorable and wholesome. Get you a partner who treats you half as well as this old snek treats Miyu, and you'll live a blessed (albeit quite burdensome in the chore department, being the only spouse with, you know... limbs, and all that) and surprisingly wholesome life.
If you're a fan of "creepy cute" you'll LOVE this. It's so simple in its complication. That's the best way I can think to describe it.
A dude with a candle for a head finds an orphaned witch and takes her in. The Manga itself is about the wholesome day to day of the two unlikely, new family members, exploring their oddly wholesome father/daughter like relationship, in a world where everyone wants to kill her... and he eats humans. >.>
On the surface this seems like a sketchily drawn long form newspaper comic, but as the story continues, you start to realize you're hopeful, rooting for the characters, crying. Because the art is so simplistic (although by no means is it anything but well done- and that's coming from an artist with over 30 years of experience) the story puts you in a false sense of security before blowing your emotions to the smallest of pieces that liquify and become the tears now upon your face.
This story is as real as it is fucked up. It's fantastical and dark. The art is absolutely gorgeous despite how obviously unrealistic it is; but where that's true in the art, it is made up in how realistically disturbing the more human characters go about conducting themselves.
This is not your mom's childhood's Disney movie. It's gritty, dark, and damaging, though you would never guess if all you could see were the illustrations.
READ BEFORE.. ER.. READING LOL
This is straight up tentacle Hentai. Like straight up 99.999999999% porn. That said...
This story is really good; at least what I can make from it. If it ever gets an official translation, I'd bet the ratings would go up. I'm not expecting a 9+ cause it's hetero, and people seem to have less tolerance for straight stuff.
If you're interested in tentacle monsters, and don't mind a bit of sex every other chapter or so, the story is well worth it imo
