That ending fucked me up. This is so depressing. It wasn't highlighted in the manga, but it shows how child abuse (neglect) and lack of love affect a growing teenager. His environment and his circumstances made him to be the "monster."
Read this years ago, but it's still a psychological horror classic till this day. And no, it's not BL.

This goes to show how shallow men's friendships are, how a person's true colors show when something bad happened. Truly loved that ending though, very realistic. Tobio was depressed and his feelings of guilt eats him away while trying to live out his average life. Paisen was genuine, but felt pity for him :(((
I get that the manga wanted to convey the different ways women are sexually oppressed by their abusers and such, even with the overall message, but man was the delivery dogshit. It didn't touch on some of the characters' trauma deep enough like Niizuma or the creepy brother. It fell short in wrapping up the message and it just felt so lazy.

Read this because there's an anime adaptation with ep 1 right now. That twist caught me off SO BAD. Trigger warning though, it does not shy away from abuse, bullying, and unaliving yourself. It's so heavy, but so well-done. Personally, i feel bad for Takopi, but i love seeing naive characters becoming disillusioned with reality.
