This is just a beautiful, sad, but well-done and realistic story. It's heartbreaking, but it's so unusual for what it is.
Typically, the bittersweet ending would disqualify it from my faves, but it's so different that I can't help but love it.
* No rape to love
* Semi-happy ending
* Actual gay characters
* Beautiful art
* Explores actual LGBT issues
* Strong plot
* Platonic love and strong friendship
Beautiful, tragic, and lovely. This is a great example of the kind of manga I love, where it has a sad and complicated plot, but a happy ending.
* No rape to love
* No "it's okay if it's you"
* Complex characters
* Interesting plot
* Action
* Happy ending
* Extreme moments that turn out okay
* Dark, satisfying story
Though I love these manga, none of them are perfect, and the consensual sex scenes in this one are on the rough side. Normally that'd be an issue, but this is Harada, and everything is meant to be a little screwed up. Regardless, it's a great story.
WARNING: CHILD ABUSE/ASSAULT/PROSTITUTION (tread carefully)
* No rape to love
* Beautiful art
* Complex characters
* Interesting, complicated women
* Happy ending
* Hurt/Comfort
* Protective seme
* Contains both emotional catharsis and hilarity
This is a very rare depiction of omegaverse. Even the good ones seldom challenge the idea of fate and obligation.
NOTE: I suggest looking "omegaverse" up if you aren't familiar with the term.
* Addresses problematic omegaverse tropes
* Flawed & complex characters with major growth throughout
* Very self-aware story
* Nice art
* Happy ending
* Truly kind, altruistic seme
* Heavy examination of consent
Still reading this one, but almost positive it's gonna end up here. Will fill in details later.
This one is heartbreaking and beautiful. It really handles the psychological fallout of assault, and it covers it with such compassion. Yaoi brushes over these things far too often.
+ Beautiful art, like freaking gorgeous, especially the further you go in
+ Deep, intense, tender, and genuine love for another
+ Hurt/comfort
+ No rape to love
+ Emotional and psychological with a satisfying conclusion
+ No IOIIY, both are gay independent of each other
+ Happy and beautiful ending
