my first yaoi ever, I read it about 10 years ago (woah that's scary), and it remains one of my favorites, probably because mizushiro setona is such a great storyteller (many of her works have become live action films or series). The characters are sooo fucking messy and dysfunctional as people but their relationship is so complex and real.. it always gets me haha
so this is the sequel of Kyuuso from above, honestly it's even better and it's what makes it an absolute fave even to this day. I think very few yaoi manages to create such emotional complexity tbh, like I can only count the ones I've found in one hand.
I own both of these works and I HAVE NO REGRETS I LOVE THEMMMMMM
I remember listening to the BLCD of this and the Kyuuso series from above and crying during uni days, damn it's been so long. I find it hilarious that Hiroshi Kamiya is Hikaru since back then he was an obscure actor and now he's one of the super top Seiyuu and he acted in the film too..
Such a great fluffy manga about youth and experiencing your first love. Some say Hara-sen is sus and honestly he is but I try to view it through the lens of 2000's understanding of these relationsh
this isnt exactly a romance shounen ai more like slice of life, I just love how it's a story about a guy divorcing his wife for a man and the son getting mindfucked by it lol. It's a story that explores the three people's relationships as well as the romance between two men past their youth who decide to be out, as well as how the son copes with that and how it affects him and his relationships. Very beautiful work...
ok so this is one of my most favorite manga of all time but it's FUCKED. UP. Like. Forreal. Don't read if you are sensitive to stories of trauma and abuse. It's essentially a story of how abuse and trauma affects your whole life, and how it becomes part of cycle that repeats and how it falls on the young people to break it. It really made me understand how S/A affects people and how complex these situations are, especially in a genre like BL where S/A is romanticised so much. Trag
this is a less popular work of Nakamura Asumiko, but it was one of the defining works when it came to how I developed my illustration skills as a person. I love how her drawings are walking a line between grotesque and beautiful a lot of the time. It's a tragic story that involves a lot of trauma, but it's really good. Highly recommended
speaking of fucked up lol this is a story about HELL and a psycho kid and a demon who like to obsessively hate/love fuck each other both literally and metaphorically lmao it's great I love how thin the line is between gore and sensuality
ugh my fave Yoshinaga Fumi story, I guess I'm the type of sucker that loves stories about YEARNING and hopelessness. That being said, this story isn't really sad, it's more about living an uncertain life that hinges upon denying reality itself. Really beautiful, emotional and sensitive piece of work.
ok so.. J no Subete.
Apart from that one weird, violent, extremely uncomfortable, basically racist scene that keeps me from rereading in full (you know the one) . . . :D
. . . great manga. It's a BL yet it also explores the story of a trans woman. It clearly takes inspiration from the film All About My Mother by Almodovar. Very tragic story set in a terrible time for queer human rights (tho one can argue when has it not been that lol) with a satisfying ending.
very popular work for good reason. Amazing story about YEARNING and angst and trauma and the prequels make it even worse lol.
But ye it has everything i love, YEARNING, messy characters, tragic circumstances, trauma, angst, slutty ukes you name it. Just.. yes.
Kyuuso Ha Cheese no Yume Omiru
