The title says pretty much everything, but I’ll just add this is historical-style, between the master of a prominent house and a slave - a survivor of a former era. One of my absolute favorites.
Ok, a classic, but cute. A rich author and the sensible younger brother of his closest friend - lighthearted, but each character is distinctive and their personalities are very well-written.
The focus is basically just on the relationship between the two MCs, but I find their interactions - what they say to each other, what they know the other is thinking, what they’ll acknowledge or not - really interesting. Technically, this is a sequel from a previous series with two other MCs, but it stands alone just fine too.
This reads more like a story, where the romance is involved, but not the main focus. I like the characters’ mysterious pasts and it’s quite funny and engaging to read, but be warned: vampires and S&M ahead!
Be warned: PSYCHOLOGICAL, but also fascinating. The different perceptions of each character is brilliantly done, and for all its darkness, it doesn’t just spiral endlessly downward - there IS light at the end of the tunnel! Well, so far. Multiple couples.
Ultimately, whole-hearted and cute, with a rocky road in between. A very well-polished story, focusing on the slice-of-life of the two MCs as happenstance brings them together.
A cute, slice-of-life school life story between the ‘delinquent’ style and the studious one. They change each other, even as their relationship continues to change. Sweet and lighthearted, but not empty fluff.
As the name suggests, one day a regular human becomes the servant of one of the ‘royal blood’, only this master keeps everyone away, with a past no one seems willing to speak of....
Everyone’s probably already familiar with this one, but it’s on the list anyway as one of my all-time favorites. It’s a very unequal relationship between the two MCs, where one is rich and successful, bordering on business in the underworld, and the other is a regular, younger freelance photographer and reporter - but it’s really well-portrayed and I like how the uke isn’t just a helpless damsel in distress - he has his own pride, and no one is more aware of this than he.
It took me a long time to try this one, but now I wonder why I didn’t do so sooner. Historical - the master of a grand, declining house takes an interest in a series of erotic paintings done by a youth who seems to hate his own work? So begins their relationship with blackmail and death threats.... Also, the whole story’s art is unique and beautiful.
