I really only made this list for fun but I realized lists are public...
The joys in manga come from the twists. If you’re a second male lead lover, you already come into manga fully knowing you won’t win. Seeing the sudden twist is what makes it all worth the journey and I don’t recommend getting it spoiled.
With that said, proceed with caution
this isn’t an actual entry, just thought it was funny.
So if the second lead becomes the main lead... then doesn’t that make the previous main lead the second lead now ???
And now that the second lead is considered the main lead... would it only be a 2nd ML win if the original ML wins now? I’m so confused now;;

Before team sensei hates on me—I also really like Shishio too and I’m super glad he’s happy in the extras at least :’)
I would kill for a spin-off with him getting a lover
But I have so much love towards this manga—
Mamura is the pure reason I have a weakness towards characters who blush a lot and this manga was the one that gave me hope for all the second leads out there
It’s been so long since I first read it but this title still stuck with me solely for the ending and who she ends up with ;)
I’m really happy she picked the second ML since he’s just really sweet and definitely a keeper <3

This is probably the biggest spoiler here since I actually didn’t expect the ending
—the ending hit me more than the infamous isekai trucks...
I would’ve never expected a Shounen Jump manga to pull this off so boldly and I’m soo glad they did!!
But even if they weren’t end game, as long as they’re happy, then I am too :’) I love them all.
(Still in shock over my 2nd lead pick winning rn;;)
I think ever since mamura happened, I’ve started constantly rooting for the second male lead friend who’s all blushy...
Walnut is the epitome of that.
Honestly, it’s been a while so I don’t remember anything at all and I cant give a review based solely on plot...
but i read this solely for wally, and wally only. Since this is a list for 2nd male leads, I’ll never forget the fact that he ends up happy
This story was just so heartwarming and the romance development was done realistically. I actually really enjoyed this story and how beautifully it was told. Ah if there weren’t character limits I’d have such a long review for this manga.
But in the end, I’m SO glad my pick was end game He’s so sweet :’)
But I feel emotional for all the characters and I kind of want a sequel where everybody else ends up happy too

Was going to make this a shoujo/shounen-only list, but BL second ML wins are also rare and that makes me so sad.
Damn this one always hurts. I love Jun, I really really do, but it’s so realistic and harsh here.
I reread it all and I’m feeling hurt again.
But it’s this exact realism and pain that makes me love it so much.
The title alone always brings back the memories of when I first read it and it’s bitter-sweetness

My definition of the “First Main Lead” is always just: the first person the MC meets in the manga and the first person who gets hinted as a romantic interest.
So I think this fits well in the list even if it does become more obvious early on :’)
Anyways— This was a really cute read!! It’s not a real love triangle and the characters are just great. I loved this story a lot and Adachi is a great lead!
