Omg I don't even know how many times I've read this story! Simply perfect! This will remain one of my favourite tragic stories forever! I remember crying and crying every single time I read it, but in the end it's actually an open ending...
[Spoiler] In the last pages there're clearly hints that they may be alive...so just let me have some hope and think that they survive!

Well, the ending certainly leaves the reader a bit unsatisfied, like one was expecting something more definite, a final scene that would seem like a proper closure. But I think it's understandable that the author ended it like that, 'cause after all that's just they way Jou and Azuma are, the way their relationship is all along!
