yup you nailed it. the problem is that people keep trying to push these guys into these narrow boxes based on boring character archtypes from BL tropes. taehwan isnt the Loving Fluffy top OR the Cold Cruel top or some other kind of dbag that yeonwoo needs to Cure with his Pure Heart to turn into a good man or loving partner. taehwan is a flawed but generally decent person. he's clearly capable of loving (his relationship with taehee is esp clear on just how intensely affectionate and protective he can be) and of recieving love (again his relationship with taehee and dojin not perfect but NOT toxic either). however that doesnt mean he's free from some serious internal turmoil and complexes and baggage and other issues that most people have some level of and him more so since its now been said by taehee in s1 and shown briefly in s2 that taehwan has some sustained trauma from his childhood that needs to be properly dealt with before he can fully heal. but even aside from that. his contempt to yeonwoo wasnt based on knowing yeonwoo was gay but how yeonwoo betrayed his trust as a friend and kissed him when his guard was down (asleep). obv yeonwoo didnt mean to cause harm, and was just a kid/teen and didnt know taehwan's past (and still doesnt). but that's...a LEGIT reason to be cold to someone. taehwan wasnt hazing yeonwoo, he just told yeonwoo to fuck off. yeonwoo approached HIM and started their first sexual interaction and it was wiht the agreement of both parties that it continued (taehwan seems like he suggested it first but its not clear without being able to read the hangul alas).
So yeah i think taehwan shouldnt be free from criticism but i dislike the way people are like flattening his character out into this arrogant jerk who just uses people without regard or who is doing this to yeonwoo to punish him...neither is true. also im more upset rly by how this just robs Yeonwoo of agency? People are painting yeonwoo as an innocent victim of love and taehwan's machinations and thats so unfair to yeonwoo tbh? He's smart, he has self awareness and he's not suffering from low self esteem or hatred of his identity/sexuality. he's just a simple ordinary guy with RLY kinky tastes. he has the look of an innocent soft boy but he's not! he's mentally strong and knows what he wants and he GOT IT. "it" being that D lol. good 4 him tbh. the only thing unhealthy about their relationship is that they arent able to be fully honest with each other because yeonwoo's feelings are complicated and taehwan refuses to reflect on his own trauma too much that is for sure a factor in why taehee thought he was homophobic (tbh ide think taehwan is that, he explained his anger towards dojin/taehee and its clearly based on 1. thinking dojin took advantage of taehee and 2. being left out and once those were talked through he reaffirmed his friendship with dojin and then encouraged them to live together and said he'd cover for them in front of the family like...that's rly damn supportive tbh? like korean culture isnt super gay friendly hate to break it to u guys. but so far we havent seen taehwan use slurs or act hostile cause of Da Gays but i can see how massive bullying and maybe even chiildhood sexual trauma would cause him to react the way Taehee described him reacting.) anyway thats my Essay that most ppl def didnt read but w/e lol. i had time before work.

np. i like seeing people's speculations and convos about s2 but most of s2 isnt in english yet alas. i do wish people would actually try to look for raws in the comments before asking tho. they have been relinked so many times im cry. if i could take the effort to buy, rip images and up the chpts i would hope some of yall got the time and energy to scroll down and maybe click to page 2 lol. but anyway your welcome <3 i did it for the Lulz and not the thanks but i do enjoy the appreciation haha
though outside your comment, BJ alex story is by far one of the best stories about such relationships (the story isn't my favorite nor did I find the sex hot. I have different taste) but I gotta admit the author has a talent in writing.
It has no stupid troupes, it's extremely realistic, it doesn't contain rape. The uke actually grew and started to defend for himself, the seme got over his trauma.
In terms of writing, BJ Author is perhaps on the top of both manga/manhwa authors for actually writing an appealing story, with that type of drama and ending it with romance (the drama type that I'm talking about regarding sex and banging, not having rape, not having extreme hate, extreme possessiveness, unrealistic definition about love, confusing love with lust/harm)
This is why BJ is good. Unfortunately, many authors nowaday try to copy the plot style/troupe..... but they mess things up by doing the extreme which ruins the story mode.
All characters in BJ felt like humans, they were not elite, they were not the best among everyone. They were simple humans with likes/dislikes and strength/weaknesses.
I sound like I love the story, and I'm sad that I don't really feel attached to it, but I have to admit to the writing brilliance
i just read the raws and taehwan is not even toxic lmao like shit just happened and he's not very fond of yeonwu. i don't blame him, he's not even cruel with yw?? i think we're so used to black and white in BL we act as if taehwan is a "toxic top" because he's not the "loving top". however i'd rather have this kind of characters than bj alex trope any day (not like i hate bj alex tho, I've read it enough times to say i like it as a fictional story, this one seems a little more character-based and i like that )
