You mean 1k apaato (apartment), it's more or less like a relatively cheap, small, studio apartment. Commonly have tiny indoor bathroom. But sometimes several rooms share the same bathroom (My own college experience, 1 floor which contains 5 rooms share 1 bathroom. No, I didn't live in a dorm. Shortly after, I move to another studio apartment that have an indoor plumbing.)
Also, 1k means 1 room+kitchen, 1dk = 1 room+dining room+kitchen, 2ldk = 2 rooms+living room+dining room+kitchen. Usually each apaato (Japanese apartment) have bathroom, toilet and genkan.

Hey guys :) in mangas you sometimes have a character who doesn't have much money and lives in a very tiny appartement. I wanted to know how they look in real life and the word "kondo" came into my find but on google I couldn't find any pictures related this topic :( so is this appartment really called kondo or is it only the size like this 1K you can read sometimes in a manga? I also wanted to look this up because I was curious if they also have a shower in this tiny appartment or if all the people in the building have to share 1 bathroom ^^ thx for all answers :)))
