Moonhyuk used to work for Chagang (character with both arms tattooed and tied up in red ropes), who was a leader of a gang/mafia Moonhyuk used to be a part of. Moonhyuk falls in an unrequited love with Chagang, and this leader ends up dying.
Why Yeonjin bought Moonhyuk?
1. Love at first sight- there is a scene demonstrating Yeonjin being captivated by Moonhyuk fighting and this most likely sparked feelings of 'enthusiasm.'
2. To anger his father- in one scene, Yeonjin catches his father sleeping with another man (a man with a scar on the eye) and this most likely tormented his childhood as his Mom was driven mad upon seeing that scene. Yeonjin buys Moonhyuk and follows his father's path (sleeping with another man) to provoke his father.
It is presumable that Yeonjin's father and or the man with a scar on the face is after Moonhyuk. Yeonjin's father may have hired a hitman to hurt Moonhyuk (without giving him a fatal injury) to warn Yeonjin (his son) of what he is capable of doing by hurting someone precious to him.
