everytime someone compares this comic to bj alex. another one for my hair strands turns white. *sigh*

They only compare the second couple not the whole comic. I agree with them as I did feel slight jiwon vibes from taehwan (tho jiwon was more of an a$$ at the time). I don’t think taehwan is actually just like jiwon tho, but the attitude taehwan has towards yeonwu where he enjoys sleeping with him but ignores him in public give me whole flashbacks to bj Alex lmao

i know i am talking about the second couple, no one made this comparison before season 2 however its still a way off comparison. and the similarities are so superficial that as soon as a person starts actually reading the story (esp if they are also checking raws, which not every1 is tbf! but some ARE and STILL making the comparison in some cases...).
anyway. i read bj alex in full and thats why i also dont get this comparison because it makes me think people either forgot half the events of bj or didnt read it that closely in the first place. but jiwon's dynamic with dongyun is very different from the Start. jiwon has a double life as a popular streaming sex worker, taehwan doesnt have any kind of double life he has no deep secret he needs to guard beyond his deep seated trauma ofc which yeonwoo has no clue about whereas dongyun knew exactly that jiwon was alex and that was kind of his In into being jiwon's sex friend. the other thing is donghyun was a fan of jiwon's alter ego bj alex, firstly sleeping with fans is usually not a good idea in general and secondaly a fan's perception of who a person is based esp on an entirely cultivated persona is very different from yeonwoo's perception and relation with taehwan. yeonwoo met taehwan in school in a totally natural way, he has no previous impression of taehwan beyond noting that he's good looking and well liked in school, and he has an actual real and deep friendship with taehwan before it goes sour. taehwan ignores yeonwoo not cause he's worried yeonwoo will spill his secret identity or cause yeonwoo is a dork/loser/someone he never would've hung out with usually but because he felt wronged by yeonwoo cause of actions that havent been revealed in the english translation yet but are imo very valid and not based in looking down on yeonwoo as a person. furthermore we know how taehwan acts around people he is close with aka his baby bro and dojin. we have a clearer idea of who he can be long before we see deeper sides to jiwon. and finally jiwon doesnt actually realize what value dongyun has to him before dongyun finally grows a spine and tells him to fuck off. at which point jiwon has to self reflect. meanwhile taehwan starts to soften to yeonwoo soon after they start their fuck buddying and yeonwoo had a crush on taehwan based on his past friendship with him and not just his looks or false persona. and he actively pursues taehwan who gives in on a few conditions whereas jiwon does it to 1. make sure dongyun keeps his mouth shut and 2. its easy access to sex. yeonwoo is not an inexperienced virgin and knows exactly what he wants from sex and is ok with casual hookups. dongyun was very sexually inexperienced, naive about love, didnt want a casual hookup and agreed to the relationship because 1. fannish adoration and 2. it was his best way to make jiwon give him attention and maybe love him. he also had no interest in hard or kinky sex and was always essentially either coerced, manipulated or bullied into it. again jiwon becomes nicer to dongyun once they get back together but like...thats after what? 60+ chpts??? this is why i hate this comparison. its just way off. also taehwan doesnt actively avoid yeonwoo after they start having sex, since he has nothing to lose from associating with yeonwoo in public he was just still harboring resentment towards yeonwoo for reasons the reader isnt fully aware of yet and yeonwoo himself acknoweldges in chpt 71 that he did something that deeply disappointed taehwan (he implies this doesnt outright state it). dongyun was always an innocent being taken advantage of. yeonwoo is not. thank u for coming to my TED talk on why Bj Alex and Banana Scandal s2 are very different and will continue to be even more so as the series progresses.

Lol yeah i know the two are very different and I like both stories. I’m just thinking that the people making these comparisons to bj Alex aren’t that serious about it. It’s just a slight vibe they get from the situation that reminds them of bj Alex. It’s nothing that detailed, I’m pretty sure most people know it’s not gonna be like bj Alex and that they’re completely different stories.


I know that there are people who’s comments I’ve seen that are dumb and actually do read too much into it, but I just ignore those comments. My opinion about it:

I know that the two stories are very different with different situations, characters, etc. But there’s just a slight vibe I got or more like makes me remember certain scenes from bj Alex. It’s the part where taehwan glares or tells yeonwu to not talk or look at him in public (not including when they’re just alone), or those times when he ignored yeonwu when he was with other friends. That’s about it. I’m not gonna say something stupid like: “oMg TaEhwAn iS tOttALly jIwOn1!1!” or “tHis iS gOnNA be JUsT liKe bj Alex!!!” It was only a feeling that reminded me of bj Alex, I don’t think that it will be like bj Alex obviously. You may not find any similarities at all, but everyone is different and some do.

I feel like it’s fine for people to say that they think the situation or something is similar or reminds them of bj alex. You should call out the dumb comments who say that it will be exactly like bj Alex, etc. who read too much into things. I can see why you would be annoyed by such comparisons but I honestly think it’s best for you to just ignore them and not read the comments section, or just scroll past. It’s the internet and things that upset you will end up in the comments, you just gotta find a better way to move past them rather than reply to them. Eventually as chapters come out, the story will develop and there won’t be such comments anymore. If you want you can try to steer the comments section by changing the topic and making more comments about what happened in the recent chapters, it’s more productive by trying to get people’s mind off of bj Alex. If you reply and say how annoyed you are by people comparing the two stories, then it might go the wrong way and more people will talk about it. Just let people forget and get distracted by the chapters on their own and it’ll be done.

well i am here cause im bored and covid has uh put alot of my plans on hold. if i was that upset i would avoid the comment section tho. i have already had to do this for several other comics i read. i just stopped going to the comment sections on this site for it (very easy to do when im reading them on their official platform too). cause i feel actual anger at what im saying but i dont feel angry over like story comparisons. i do feel annoyed but its not more serious than that. my NO! in response to people is just me being intentionally silly and annoying and not an actual response of SHOCK and HORROR. but ofc tone is impossible to translate over the internet. i did want to give my essay thoughts on why i think the BJ alex comparison is wrong/bad but it wasnt so i could make anyone else FEEL wrong or bad cause ofc its just a work of fiction not real life and no one is being harmed by interpreting a story one way or the other. but i do love discussion and debate and while this site is not the ideal venue for that. a girl cant help herself sometimes i guess~

thats most definitely the part thats making people have bj flashbacks and i figured as much i was just annoyed cause even without reading the raws it was so clear to me the context and reason behind this behavior is different. which is why i said "superficial" similarities cause indeed they are there at a glance! ofc my essay prob wont keep anyone from saying dumb shit or not paying attention to what they are reading but it makes ME Feel better so lol. i think im more annoyed by the comments that taehwan is a huge dbag and toxic because they are based again not on what is actually presented in the story so far (taehwan is flawed ofc but not to SUCH an extent) but rather assumptions based on many other (less well written) BL works. taehwan isnt real so im not upset on his behalf but rather feel like its an insult to the story itself that 1. apparently people arent actually paying attention to whats being read and 2. making this writer out to be a hack who traffics in worn out tropes but ofc most people are fine with the usual Jerk Top and Soft Bottom dynamic or those stories wouldnt be SO popular. which makes the rants about taehwan's behavior all the more eye roll inducing tbh. "this is gonna be JUST Like bj alex!" is a dumb take but "taehwan is TOXIC and this relationship is ABUSIVE" is a far worse take. but my hope is like u said as more chpts are translated that these two misconceptions will be fixed. tho even if they are not, i prob should just get over it lol. (prob shouldnt expect people to apply critical thinking or analyzing the media they consume when that media is a webtoon people are mainly reading so they can see hot boys have hot sex with each other. and also...most of these readers are CHILDREN ahem i mean..youths..)

ahh I seee. Yeah in my opinion I don’t think taehwan is the worst out there. There’s A BUNCH of tops that I could list out that are way worse. Though I do think taehwan’s an a$$ right now, I’m the type to usually be open for character development and just wait til it happens. I honestly hate overusing the word “toxic” and hate it when people misuse it to describe how THEY think a relationship should be by their own standards. I can see that taehwan isn’t a complete a$$hole since I’ve already seen that he does have his nice sides. I look forward to when he warms up to yeonwu in future chapters. I find their relationship interesting, and I’m pretty happy with yeonwu’s character. Yeonwu isn’t just a soft boi who’s a virgin but is surprisingly a perv (nothing wrong with that lel) and is experienced.

yep yeonwoo being an adult with like an actual personality and desires instead of a passive being there just to be pure and in love with a shitty guy who takes him for granted or treats him carelessly until suddenly he doesnt (if he changes at all, sometimes tbh they dont). yeonwoo blocking that blonde guy is alrdy a sign that he knows how to draw boundaries and respect his body. he didnt need to be saved from a bad sex parnter (which was my worry when esther kept warning him about pulling in some creeps). while a past lover can still turn up later to harass yeonwoo its not cause he doesnt know his own worth like there's never any monologues of self hatred in his head that would indicate he''ll be easy to use, abuse, manipulate etc. meanwhile taehwan acts like a big shot but its alrdy been hinted that he has some serious trauma in his past. and the new raws would hint at trauma that is even darker than i would've guessed originally. wont go into detail ofc but like...its def a refreshing chocie to if ur going to involve a traumatic backstory like the one that belongs to taehwan its usually given to the "weaker" characters, someone who appears timid and easy to abuse but taehwan being someone who isnt a pushover at all partially constructing an easy going friendly persona that can turn on a dime when he thinks he or someone else he loves has been wronged...its rly interesting and it feels like a real character trait and not just a general He's a Jerk cause Daddy or Mommy didnt love him enough (or smth). it just seems more thoughtful. and Yeonwoo being so sharp and observant esp when it comes to taehwan? loooove that. like their sexual chemistry is great but u can alrdy see why they'd be a good match in genearl (and why they were such good friends before Things Happened and ruined it). ugh waiting for eng translations each week is gonna be painful ngl. (also love that yeonwoo is a perv and a far bigger one than taehwan, like HE"S the reason taehwan starts doing kinky shit cause before that he never had before)
