Actually, being color blind isn't obvious. You can still see colors, but it's difficult for you to distinguish between different shades of certain colors. That's why a more appropriate term for it is color vision deficiency.

Well in my case the only person with blind color that I know is my dad and he told me he knows since he was a child... in my sister and my case my dad went to a doctor in order to do the test about blind color and we both are ok (my issue is that I have a really bad eyes/hands coordination)...
The reason is because, as my dad told me, there are several members of his family that are blind color... never knew any of them, they live in Europe and we live in Latin America...
Even though my dad couldn't see any diference between red and green, he has no problem driving...
People are born color blind except if they had an accident... so he should known since the begining that he couldn't be police officer...
Mi dad was color blind and he never had any issue as engineer... but he always used blue clothes, I have never seen him with other color than blue (except his black suit for important events)
