She’s so stupid. She’s so unbelievably stupid. It’s not even funny how stupid she is. She had so many times to get out of the situation before he found out about the kid and she didn’t take any of it. She could have rejected the offer for the job and even if she had been fired she would’ve found something else. Or she could have lied and said she was coming down with the flu and that’s why she couldn’t take the job and that would’ve given her a week and a half to two weeks to figure out how to get the hell out of Dodge. What she should have not done was sleep with him. And even after sleeping with him what she should’ve done was put on her clothes and leave. Check her messages when she’s on the elevator. She would’ve found out about her kid could’ve gone to the hospital picked up her kid gone home and figure out a way to get out of this mess. And even if that still would’ve happened and she still would have been given the ultimatum marry me or else what she should’ve done was press charges. He was basically trying to buy her like a prostitute, sexually harassed her while she was on the clock, blackmailed and threatened her to take this job with the intention of fucking her and paying for her services like a prostitute. I can’t read these without getting too emotional about them. But this female lead takes the cake. She had ample opportunity to get away from this asshole. She was even given an out and she didn’t take it because she’s a glutton for punishment and wants to be with a man that just likes to sleep with her and doesn’t love her. Because honestly his confession was so dry his literal reappearance was that he couldn’t forget her because he liked fucking her. Everything before he found out about the kid was so sexually charged and with meaning only about sex. This was so frustrating to read that I actually want to write a fix-it in which she does the intelligent thing. As a matter of fact I think I will. Not for anybody else but for myself because this was so incredibly frustrating. At least most of the female leads that I’ve read had no choice because the assholes always found out in the very beginning. This guy found out what? Near halfway through? I hate this so much she’s such an idiot. I would love to read a sequel where she is a single mother or she’s divorced and her son was taken from her cousin by cheating asshole in the divorce. Because, I mean, she’s so stupid it’s what she deserves. Oh I’m an independent LAWYER... what a crock. At least the other female leads that are weak acknowledge that they’re weak. I hate this so much. I can’t even hate the asshole because he doesn’t present himself as anything but. She annoys me more than him.
