Okay, right. That moment threw me out of the story for a second on the first read-through, too. Still liked the story, though. (Somebody downvoted your comment because of that? Why? There's nothing insulting about it. Looks like we're getting caught in crossfire here.)

I get down-voted lots, too, but I reckon that's because I'm an unapologetic old firebreather, which I've earned the right to be at this stage in my life and, if the kiddies don't like it, they can do as Carrie Fisher says. I still get surprised, though, at some of the stuff that gets downvoted (or upvoted, for that matter.) One of the reasons I write my comments, even when they're unpopular, is because there's no waffling. Thought and experience go into it, and people are free to disagree and counter-argue, and so it goes. With down-votes, you're just left wondering, "What's flown up your nose? Got nothing to say? Or do you suspect your position is insupportable and don't want that made crystal clear?"
