I hate to say it, but I really agree with you. He is on the road of an abusive relationship.
I personally didn't like shinkai. He was a bully and either needs to learn how to properly treat Yumeji or Yumeji needs to put him in his place. （￣へ￣）
But that's just me.
I would rather have seen much more of Maru and Mu
