honestly i don’t mind the slow burn - i think it’s obvious they care for eachother and their interactions are always very very cute but the fact that they’re so cautious and protective about their relationship shows how much love and care xie has towards niannian and vice versa. but it’s probably difficult to show off their feelings with xie’s position and niannian’s growing popularity
