I think that more than being replaced they wanted to show him that he and his siblings were too different from each other, they wanted him to realize that being a hero with his quirk and body was impossible, like...

At first I think they didn't notice or didn't know that training injured him a lot and that that could kill him..

From my point of view, I was very surprised seeing Endeavor trying to make him stop and how they both were worried about him but didn't know what to do or how to help him with his obsession, yeah maybe Endeavor was the one who started it but I can see he's worried about his kid hurting himself

Also he was their first kid and didn't know how to handle him, and maybe just maybe he was jealous of the fact that their brothers could train a lot without getting hurt with their powers, for me it's obvious that Endeavor would stop training him or pressuring him to surpass him when he knows that his life is the price to pay for it, and maybe that was the worst way of solving it but well let's see the rest first...

That's my opinion from what I saw in this chapter :)

Honestly love your view of things

I honestly thought at the beginning That Endeavor made him train like crazy until his body couldn't stand it anymore, but seeing him worried, telling him to stop and to look for another dream but being a hero was a little touching, like I know he was the one who was obsessed with surpassing All might but he didn't want his kid to get injured anymore...

Maybe he focused in Shoto hoping that Dabi would give it up but it didn't turn out well for anyone, like maybe even his mom was frustrated seeing his kid all injured while the other one was fine, I feel so sorry for Endeavor his family was falling apart and in the other hand the pressure and all the expectations of the people around them where to much for all of them, because I can see that he really cares for his family ┗( T﹏T )┛
