ive read enough manga and manhwas that i feel like i can feel when someone is going to be a manipulative or just overall bad character .... hes homophobic about everyone but apparently its okay if its him, he treats others like garbage, is supposed to be this “lively, charismatic person that everybody likes” but is not whatsoever its just a character he plays, etc .... idk i just absolutely hate him

so if i understood you correctly, you hate him for things he hasnt done but MIGHT do based on how other BL webtoons you've read that share some similar tropes? am i right? lol. i mean i get being suspicious or wary of him based on suspicions u have but to hate a character so intensely......but lemme address ur other comments if u dont mind. What did he do specifically that makes u think he's "homophobic to everyone" like his words in the bar can be interpreted in a charitable way or a less charitable way that assumes the worst out of him but at least its based on something he Said. but what has he said and done aside from That which is an example of homophobic behavior?
"He treats others like garbage" what others? how has he treated anyone like garbage? he's been cold to Yeonwoo but by Yeonwoo's own admission this is based on Yeonwoo doing something to break Taehwan's trust thus ruining their friendship (now what that thing is, or if tae's reaction was warranted, we dont know yet) so far what we HAVE seen is that Taehwan when he feels betrayed will go ice cold on a person and cut all ties (now whether that's acceptable behavior or not is def up for debate/each reader's discretion).
He IS a lively charismatic person, this is why he's liked by so many. He can also be cold, judgemental and aloof. He can be very loving and deeply loyal but also incredibly petty, stubborn and cold. and ya he def holds back parts of himself from people. but few of us show ALL parts of ourselves good and bad to every person we interact with. basically he can be BOTH things. one doesnt cancel out the other. which is how it works in real life but yeah most stories like this prefer to work in absolutes but what makes this story and his character is interesting (to me anyway) is it allows its characters to have shades and Taehwan in particular has a clear duality to him.
But getting back to the Homophobia of it all...with regards to Taehwan all we have to go on aside from his words in the bar (which can be taken in multiple ways) is Taehee's observation back in s1 that Taehwan after coming back from studying in the US as a kid became very uncomfortable with anything involving "Guys Liking Guys". later when he is angered by Dojin and Taehee's secret relationship, he never says he's digusted by Taehee or Dojin being gay, even clarifies thats not it. but that they hid it from him (despite them being the closest people to him) and more improtantly he misinterpreted Dojin as a sly person who was preying on his innocent little brother. which is ofc patently false and when he's confronted about it he accepts that he was wrong, gives his blessing on their relationship and reaffirms his closeness (and love) for his little brother.
So yeah, i dont think he's a person that's beyond criticism or has to be liked by all readers (esp since his inner thoughts are not known to us yet) but i just cant fathom hating him to the extent not just u but some other readers do right now. Esp when i hear what the reasons are Im like are we even reading the same webtoon? (maybe i just havent read enough simplistic and cliche ridden BL so my brain hasnt been hardwired to assume all tops are either Fluffy and Sweet or Rapey Abusive Assholes with no in between).

i think the raws could not be more clear about the fact that this man is deeply traumatized by *spoilers and spoilers* so...i mean its one thing if u dont sympathize with him anyway (or are witholding ur final opinion on taehwan until u see the translations which is fair enough) but even with just what the pictures showed us alone.....im amazed he's not 100x more messed up than he actually is. (which is interestingly enough what the korean commenters on bomtoon also reacted with, and they can actually understand the dialogue so...again...i'd say we're close enough to an idea of what is motivating some of taehwan's actions and feelings over the course of this comic to draw a more charitable conclusion on taehwan's overall personality than say others who may not have seen the raws would.)

I really think you should continue reading this webtoon. i assumed he would have some sort of trauma that makes him act the way he does but even under that assumption i still dont like him .... bc of 2 reasons: a) we havent (or at least i havent bc i dont like reading raws) seen what happened to him so its hard for me to sympathize and b) plenty of people have trauma and stuff and dont act like a dick .... this is coming from someone who absolutely loves sangwoos character, a person with an unbelievable amount of trauma and is a bad person but not in a dick-ee way ... i just dont like taehwan

I’m withholding my opinion of him until I red the translations because I’m not sure exactly what happened. I’m a bit behind on the raws but I’d rather wait for translations :)

theres definitely an inbetween for the fluffy and sweet or rapey and abusive tropes and personally i dont think taehwan falls under either of the categories .... also as to why i dont like him, i genuinely couldnt give you a solid reason as to why i hate him ... everybody has personality types they dispise in particular. everything i listed or said was things that added more hatred into it you know? he has the “homophobic yet gay” vibe to him based of the things he said & what weve seen .. also we dont know what yeonwoo did to upset taehwan to the point that he acts like this (without reading raws) so its difficult for me to sympathize and same goes for what intensely traumatized him ... we havent seen it nor do we know about it so i cant sympathize. also the whole thing with dojin and taehee makes me not like him because of how he acted in the situation. sure, its unfair to assume the average person would act calmly especially given how much he treasures his brother but the fact that he made himself the victim in the situation without taking a second to think “yeah its understandable they didnt tell me because of what ive said before & its hard in general coming out” or something along the lines .... again im not entirely sure as to why i despise him to the degree i do but i just do and unless i see some AWFUL trauma or some BIG redemption its gonna stay that way
