Do keep in mind, I will simply be putting quotes along with my own interpretation of the situation. There are also summaries to catch others up partially on this situation for anyone who does not want to look back to refresh their memories. Again, this is my interpretation of what is happening on screen.
Whether you choose to side with me or not is none of my business. There will be a TLDR at the end since I can acknowledge that it is getting extremely long while I am typing this up and rereading the chapters.
Chapter 30; the start of our scene is here, Andy knocks on the door as he has a flashback to what brought him to Martin’s place.
In the flashback he’s watching gay porn and reading through the comments—he contemplates messaging Martin and starts to type out a message. Unsure of how to word or start off a conversation, in a vain effort, he writes another message, pondering if he should send it or not as someone yells for him to do his dishes. Andy jumps and accidentally hits send, upon realizing his misclick, he attempts to make up an excuse, writing that he sent the message to the wrong person. Martin messages back in disbelief, “yeah right lol.”
Martin sends him in address, “Come to my house tmrw.” And this is where the flashback ends.
Moving onto chapter 31, Andy, now inside of Martin’s place, starts to second guess why he decided to show up. Fast forwarding a little in the chapter, Martin decides to poke and provoke Andy a little, eventually getting Andy to make a move to kiss him. Taking a quick turn with Andy being pinned underneath Martin.
‘I did come here with sex in mind, but..’ Andy thinks to himself in the beginning scene of chapter 32. ‘It’s the first time I’m feeling this way. It feels so weird’ lost in his own thoughts for a brief moment as he squirms—Martin’s hands fondling his chest. A little banter happens between the two until Martin prompts, “Do you want to try sucking mine?” Of course Andy shoots back, “What in the hell? In your dreams! That’s gross..” He shoves Martin as he begins to partially regret what he says, while Martin replies, repeating his words back to him, “It’s gross?” He pulls Andy towards him more and takes off his pants and begins giving him a blow job.
Andy ends up feeling good and doesn’t make a further effort really stop Martin, but Martin pauses and ends up pulling out some lube, attempting to finger Andy. Andy covers that area and gives him a weird look, “Wait..! You’re not trying to put it in, are you?”
“Are you not ready yet? I won’t, if you don’t want to.” Martin responds, kissing his inner thigh, “We can just enjoy our time.”
Andy begins to lean closer to Martin, “You can do i—,” getting cut off by the door opening and someone entering. Andy begins to panic as he hears Niki’s voice.
(I will be skipping chapters 33, 34, and 35 since they do not deal with Andy and Martin’s situation.)
In the beginning of 36, Andy is shown to be panicking as Niki enters the home. He was under the assumption that Niki was going to be at work the whole time they were there. Andy pleads with Martin to answer Niki while still continuing to keep a hushed whispered tone. Martin doesn’t answer Niki while he continues to have his way with Andy. His sister begins to question why she isn’t getting a response. Andy is squirming as he’s being pinned down and fingered, afraid to get caught. He attempts to suppress the noises coming from him, but some little ones slip out nonetheless; Niki figures out what is going on moments before opening the door to Martin’s room, quickly rushing to get out as she bids the two farewell, unaware of who Martin’s partner might be. Upon her departure, Andy jumps at Martin, grabbing him by the collar of his tshirt, yelling at him.
And this is the end of my summary of the previous chapters having to do with Andy + Martin’s situation.
TL;DR: Andy goes to Martin’s place and gets a BJ from Martin. Niki returns to the house to grab something and hears them a bit so she quickly leaves after grabbing what she needed. Andy ends up yelling at Martin.
My conclusion:
Andy came to Martin’s place with sex in mind, while everything for the most part started off consensual, I’d have to agree that Martin went too far in chapter 37. Andy gave him the consent and the go ahead, but he definitely said to be gentle and Martin said earlier that he would be gentle despite the complete opposite happening in this scene. On whether it is rape, I’m not too sure I can comment on whether it is rape or not, because the answer seems very muddled. I’m not excusing Martin’s actions, by any means.
