I think that the dad gave her the sword because Max and him has some kind of plan since the dad told max that he treasures her daughter so much and max is somehow the dad's disciple then they planned something up to protect her since i think that the father doesn't really like the blond boy and the emperor on the other hand max doesn't like the emperor too so i think they really planned something but the girl just misunderstood it.
