These no real big fight about it, the false confession only got mentioned again near the very end of the novel when renee confessed the truth and confessed for him for real, cabel didnt give muh reaction and renee described his face "as if he had already found out" so I assume he found out as time went by.
The false confession didnt cause any big trouble for them cause renee fell in love with him for real shortly after.

well yes and no, shes isn't a villain persay, (actually theres no real evil villain in the whole story it's just that everyone their reason for acting the way thy do).
She will definitely get in the way of cabel and renee being together and even blackmail renee into breaking up with cabel (not that she's in love with cabel or anything it's jut that the royal family are weary of cabel and the growing nobel power that's they dont want renee who will be the saintess to be with him so they keep him on a tight leash).
