Yeah he loves Aki, but he never says it. Aki loves Asa but is in self-denile.
Well there are dofferences between true love and attraction (physical or not). Many times you think you're in love...but then you realize you are not...I'm talking about real life. In a story like aki and asami i dont think this could happen...they're meant to be together in the end.
Okay, I think they changed the translation here or I read a different version, but upon rereading this for the upteenth time I found this:

He's basically saying that he wants Aki's love, but that totally means he loves him back.
This should definitely count as a love confession.
